The Work Prep Technician facilitates the availability of materials required to efficiently execute field maintenance activities. Success in this role will enable field supervision to increase field presence to monitor safety, productivity, quality of work and support schedule attainment. Additionally, this role will address materials not utilized during execution by determining the proper routing.   Interface between routine maintenance execution, scheduling and plant operations to enable alignment of objectives and adequate preparation to allow safe, effective, and efficient maintenance execution for reliable assets.

The WPT will monitor the daily and weekly schedules, manage materials procured and reserved to ensure cost-effective execution of maintenance activities through the AMS-ME process.

Work Prep Technician expectations include:

  • Monitor daily and weekly Routine Maintenance schedules and confirm materials procured are correct and available to execute the tasks

  • Focal Point for material resolution needs that may arise during execution

  • Focal Point for Maintenance Supply Chain issues with long lead times

  • Responsible for entering requisitions for materials

  • Responsible for ensuring Purchase Order generation from requisitions

  • Direct interface between Vendors and Buyers

  • Run weekly material reports to advise timing of material delivery for scheduling accuracy

  • Ensure scheduled work activities ready for execution by validating materials, using system checks to verify equipment as well as communicating with other groups, i.e. production, central maintenance, deliveries, etc.

  • Works to update BOM (Bill of Materials) from deficiencies identified during execution with the correct Technical Authority

  • Responsible for packaging materials for 1st start jobs daily

  • Tracks and manages material surplus from completed jobs while providing feedback to planning to help reduce waste and cost

  • Drive a strong safety culture/mindset for all maintenance personnel on the team and accountable for safety performance/adherence to Shell’s safety policies and lifesaving rules

Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring compliance to HSSE training competencies and safety meeting attendance

  • Spending time in the field interfacing with other teams to reinforce safe working habits and job site hazard identification.

  • Accountable for timely resolution of Emergency and Schedule Breaker materials required

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must have a strong Procurement background

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in Refining/Petrochemical Industry

  • Strong GSAP skills

  • Strong PC skills including but not exclusive to Microsoft Products, Primavera P6, PowerBI and PowerApps

  • Drive and passion for continuous improvement and innovation

  • Demonstrate Leadership and decision-making skills

  • Ability to identify improvements opportunities of materials management and can effectively pull groups together and coordinate action plans to drive resolution

  • Strength with data analysis and problem solving

  • Strong IT and digital technology skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as this role interfaces regularly with many stakeholders

  • Can manage evolving priorities and deliver on multiple commitments in a timely manner.

  • Self-motivated and driven with ability to motivate team to deliver exceptional results

The base salary range for this position is $84,000 - $126,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.        

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
