20% of an individual’s personal carbon footprint (in the US) is a direct result of their home. As Shell Energy launches into the residential electricity space, the Shell Renewables & Energy Solutions Americas marketing team has the unique challenge of elevating awareness and preference for renewable home electricity while driving the important dialogue around a changing energy system.

The North American market is a mix of regulated and deregulated territories – with 17 states having some form of retail electric competition. Shell Energy is currently active in ERCOT.

The Residential Marketing Activation Manager is an integral part of the team – tasked with bringing the brand to life with target communities so that consumers can develop familiarity with the Shell Energy brand.

You will collaborate closely with the operating companies, relevant business partners and the residential marketing team to deliver unique break-through activations that drive awareness, preference, and loyalty. You play an important role in shaping the activation strategy and take a front seat developing and executing tactical plans that drive performance along predetermined KPIs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate comfort working in an agile environment and the ability to balance complex stakeholder networks and conflicting incentive structures to keep customer needs at the core of the actionable plans you will develop and deliver.

What’s the role?

The ideal candidate will have an established marketing background, with commercial and strategic mindset, financial acumen, ability to articulate/message complex themes into digestible/meaningful narratives, effective communications/presentations and represent Shell Renewables & Energy Solutions in various internal and external forums. This role would benefit from prior marketing experience and experience working on complex events.

  • This role will work with a Sponsorship Manager as well as the individual elements from the portfolio companies. You will execute the strategy and help harmonize the overall approach
  • Directly support the development of unique activation strategy in conjunction with other residential marketing priorities to support growth of the Shell Energy residential brand. This includes but is not limited to sponsorships, community impact partnerships, industry events, channel-strategy events, launch events and ongoing campaign phases across internal and external audiences.
  • Support R&ES Americas Residential Marketing Manager in developing marketing assets, activations and strategy as required.
  • Monitor impactful activations beyond our orbit and bring opportunities, competitive activity, market changes and trends to the team in the form of regular recommendations – helping us expand and evolve our mindset and capabilities to set pace for the space.
  • Ensure dedicated activation marketing budgets are reviewed and tracked and that campaign & initiative reviews are conducted.
  • Support activation of key marketing projects and events as required for Residential marketing priorities.

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor’s degree- General Business or any similar course.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • External event experience.
  • With knowledge and or experience with large companies and how large companies work.
  • Must be amenable to work in Houston.
  • Experience working in electricity, renewable energy is valued.
  • Skills: Stakeholder management, budget management experience, strong storyteller, proficient with Microsoft Office, Figma and Airtable experience valued.
