As an Operational Technology (OT) Engineer, you will keep Shell’s offshore facilities running; helping to deliver the energy that the UK needs. Working in a natural team alongside IT, strategic partners and technical facility staff, you will support and protect business critical OT infrastructure at Shell’s facilities, while playing a key role in the development and implementation of controls to ensure the integrity of Shell's operational IT and infrastructure at our facilities.

What’s the role

Operational Technology (OT) Engineer with the specified objective of bringing together engineering and IT disciplines at Shell UK Exploration and Production (SUKEP)'s facilities to better protect our operational IT and infrastructure.

  • Will develop a specialized technical understanding of SUKEP OT systems, as well as developing interfaces with the business in order to implement system changes, deploy projects and increase awareness of OT integrity requirements and processes.

  • Will work alongside engineering disciplines to assure internal and external regulatory controls are applied and assured for IT components in SUKEP's operational technology environment, across a range of technical activities using defined procedures and practices.

  • Will be expected to partner with site staff, projects, and vendors to execute assurance activities and project scopes, while keeping various sources of information up to date.

  • Advises internal stakeholders on OT topics.

  • High level of autonomy, with regular steer and coaching/mentoring from senior staff. Will be expected to act as a buddy for incoming, less experienced colleagues.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience of industrial automation and control systems.

  • Experience of safely working with legacy network and MAC equipment.

  • Global Industrial Cybersecurity Professional (GICSP)

  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision in an operational offshore production environment with valid offshore working and medical certificates.

  • Experience of working effectively with integrated service providers to reach successful outcomes.

  • Strong Windows OS experience.

  • Strong cyber-security experience.

  • Evidence of building strong mutually productive relationships.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Permit to work processes and systems.

  • Previous experience of hands-on delivery of OT upgrades e.g. DCS, PLCs, HMIs etc. with a cyber-security responsibility.
