Thailand is one of the “giant growth markets” in Asia Mobility. Global Mobility has made substantial investments in growing Thailand Mobility network and enhancing offering on Mobility sites to deliver on the growth ambition. The 2024-2025 focus for Mobility Thailand is to deliver the growth by doubling our Shell V Power, Lubricants and Shell Café businesses. Achieving this will require delivering operational and commercial excellence across all aspects of our business.
As a member of the Thailand Mobility Leadership team, the Convenience Retail (CR) Manager role will play a material role in delivery of Thailand Mobility ambitions by doubling the Lubricants delivery, by making Shell Café and convenience retail a material contributor to the bottom-line and by creating strategic and tactical alliances that support delivery of strategic and operational goals.
What’s the role?
Convenience Retail Manager is a key leadership role to strengthen the Shell Brand and Mobility propositions beyond Fuels, creating a sustainable customer proposition that will enhance customer experience by providing Shell Mobility customers a comprehensive set of offerings at Mobility sites.
The Convenience Retail Manager is accountable for:
- Growing the Take Care of Your Car (TCOYC) category. TCOYC currently contributes nearly 90% of the Non-Fuels income in Mobility Thailand. With a network of ca. 400 Shell Helix Oil Change Plus (SHOC+) on Mobility sites, the business is one of the largest Lubricants and Car Care offerings in the B2C segment in Thailand. Mobility Thailand is also growing its offering for the 2 wheeler segment by building nearly 200 Shell Advance Motorcycle Care Express (SAMCE).
- Scaling up the Shell Café business: Mobility Thailand has grown the Shell Café network in recent years with the aim to have over 300 Shell Cafés selling Coffee, snacks and convenience categories. The ambition to is grow the Coffee, fresh food, snacks and convenience retail categories to a material contributor to the Mobility Thailand business in line with the Global Mobility strategy.
- Leading the identification and development of new partnership and alliance opportunities: Mobility Thailand has several alliances and partnerships in place that contribute to the offering at Mobility sites. With over 20,000 sq m of available capacity growth in Alliances is a key growth lever. This includes enhancing the strategy of CR business for Shell with a win-win perspective for company, partners, and Retailers.
The Convenience Retail Manager role will offer development towards several commercial leadership roles. This is a high profile role that offers opportunities to showcase leadership, and commercial capabilities to senior stakeholders in Thailand and in the region. The successful applicant will have the platform and the empowerment to make a substantial positive impact on Thailand Mobility business.
More specific responsibilities include:
- Lead the Convenience Retail team and the broader Mobility team towards delivery of CR/Non-Fuels Retail (NFR) strategy, ambition and targets
- Develop new strategies, enhance existing tactics, and flawlessly implement Convenience Retail plans for the market unit
- Lead, coach & direct the implementation of all NFR activities to maintain a competitive advantage for Mobility
- In collaboration with Sales, Operations, Network and Fuels Marketing team, you will contribute to the delivery of the integrated Mobility agenda for Thailand
- Develop, negotiate, deploy, and manage third party contracts that exist/will exist within the Shell Mobility network, including co-locators, on-the-go services, suppliers and vendors.
- Develop integrated co-locator partnership strategy (approach, road to market and launch) and be accountable for executon of the strategy, including delivery of capx nd opex plans and delivering profitability.
- Develop and drive the CR agenda through effective collaboration with other functions in Mobility Thailand to ensure a high standard of delivery and compliance at Mobility sites, utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques to drive simplicity and efficiency into business processes
- Be the custodian of CR Pricing Policy
- Develop a compelling CR offer appropriate to the different customer segments and maximizing opportunities with product range/choice/supply
- Work with Operations and Sales teams to build the right skills/capabilities on site to deliver the integrated offering
- Implement all CR/NFR marketing activities within budget and time frame to achieve the financial targets for the business
- Own and control the CR/NFR profitability/budgets and provide input into the annual planning process to drive and improve NFR profitability for the longer term
- Interface with our suppliers and strategic CR partners and ensure cost-effective procurement for the CR business
- Act as the overall focal for T&R and CR SP&A planning as the Marketing Integration Lead from CR.
