Where you fit?
You will be part of the global Shell.ai global residency program with a community extending across Houston, Amsterdam, London and inBengaluru..You get to be involved in application areas of scientific image analysis span a wide range of techniques used in scientific investigation in Shell, such as electron microscopy, micro-CT scanning, imaging through magnetometers, thermography and photography. The team works closely with experimental researches engaged in acquisition of scientific images using the techniques specified.Your colleagues with a computational science expertise in the areas of Physics, chemical engineering, applied mathematics, who make use of advanced computational tools to carry out their own R&D activities, support other research groups within Shell, and provide world-class differentiating capability to projects and assets across the globe.
What’s the role?
The position of AI Resident in Scientific Image Analysis and Simulations is an exciting opportunity within the Shell’s Technology department solving the most challenging projects for our Upstream, Downstream, Integrated Gas and New Energy businesses.
Carry out all activities with safety as thefirst priority(Goal Zero).
As partof AIResidency program you will get to work with different global cross-discipline teams on long research challenges where your artificial intelligence and machine learning knowledge, in integration with domain sciences will take us further into the digital world. In 2yearsyou are expected to execute four 6-month long R&D programs in the following fields:
Develop advanced image segmentation algorithms for analysis of microscopy images;
Develop image super resolution methods for 2D and 3D images from electron microscopy and CT-scanning analysis of samples;
Develop image analysis methods in the area of feature extraction from digital images in plants acquired with microscopy and a range of other techniques;
Demonstrate an integrated approach to feature extraction from analysis of satellite images acquired with range of conditions.
Translate a business problem into a list of technical activities. Fulfill the role of a project manager.Deliver computational solutions (like programming code) that are ready for use by R&D scientists and operating assets, along with scientific reporting.
What we need from you?
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a strong track record in artificial intelligence and machine learning to apply your knowledge in making a leap in our image analysis capability. Along with your strongexperience in the delivery of analytics solutions within a corporate or academic environment, we’d also hope to see as many of the following on your CV:
MS/Ph.D. degree in artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar discipline
Experience with using AI/ML tools to applications in the area image analysis in scientific application
3 to 5+ years of industrial experience with demonstratable value delivered on your project work
Strong computer coding skills in the latest artificial intelligence and machine learning tools
A self-starter who is using creativity to tackle the hardest energy transition challenges
A working attitude that putsfirst priorityon safety
A team player with good verbal and written communication skills
