The Role


This role has three activity areas

1.The important aspect of this role is the use of data and analytics to provide insight driven activities within the Connectivity operations team and beyond. The incumbent will work with business representatives to assess opportunities and collect/prepare/build reports to enable the end to end operational environment to be optimally managed. This includes data provided by suppliers. The incumbent will develop use-cases for a variety of Service Intelligence tools and correlate across different data sources, providing analysis and reporting across high volumes of data from various sources with a proactive and predictive operational focus. The role will also develop analytical algorithms, statistical models, and analytical tools to support the operational delivery of Connectivity services. The incumbent will employ complex techniques (such as trend analysis, classification algorithms, optimization and simulation) and preferably has advanced technical skills (including coding).

2.For services and technology associated with wide area networking including internet services, the incumbent provides technical expertise at a 'skill' level in ensuring that operational services are robust and restoration time is minimized. Together with other team members the role is also critical in ensuring Shell retains critical control points and technical knowledge to avoid over reliance on suppliers. Provides the technical advice to Service Managers for discussion with stakeholders (internal and external) to help ensure Shells interests are well represented and protected from a technical perspective. The incumbent also ensures ET-SOM is a strong influencer and participant in the process and service management tooling projects, to help ensure changes being developed support improved business outcomes.

3.The Service Manager also manages contracts with 3rd parties. They ensure that services provided are secure and reliable while exercising contractual clauses to ensure key KPIs (e.g. Critical Service Levels, Key Measures) are upheld. The Service Manager acts as the escalation point between Business IT and 3rd parties if there is a deterioration in service levels. Further, with the advent of cloud-based infrastructure services, service managers are increasingly responsible to manage vendor operations teams to ensure appropriate management and change to the infrastructure services provided to the end user organization.

•In addition (s)he will be operations focused, fully conversant with network technologies especially those relating to wide area networking and able to partner with 3rd parties to deliver secure, reliable and affordable wide area network services globally. The incumbent will also have the maturity to address (with support from the relevant function) a range of non-technical issues including IRM, compliance, commercial and legal aspects. (S)he will also have the breadth of experience to fully contribute to various steering groups and to fully represent the team’s interest and perspective

  • Typical Years of Experience: 13 - 17 years in IT with some IT leadership experience
  • Scope covers the complete wide area network of > 1000 sites globally and multiple data centres.

Mandatory Skills:
  • Any Graduate
  • The successful applicant will be Skilled in data analysis and mining using data analytic tools.
  • Experience with ServiceNow data mining, report and dashboard creation
  • Strong Skills and experience with Power BI report and dashboard creation using industry standard visualizations
  • Significant technical experience with in-depth, hands-on experience with networking technologies and wide area networks in particular.
  • Prior experience with and/or in supporting Wide Area Network Services
- Prior experience of working closely with suppliers to ensure the delivery of IT services.
- Self-starter with good analysis and problem solving skills.
- Skilled in ITIL processes, incident, problem and change management.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively and manage relationships with senior business leaders, peers and subordinates, in a virtual, geographically dispersed and cross cultural environment.
- Ability to explain IT services and solutions to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to operate in a global, virtual cross-cultural organization, working in different time zones.
- Ability to handle concurrent tasks with appropriate priority.
