In this role, you are vital in translating the purpose of Shell Health into delivered actions to support the achievement of Shell’s strategic ambitions by Shell companies in the country. This entails empowering employees to promote their wellbeing, protect them from known health risks, and ensure timely access to good quality support and care. It also involves working closely with the businesses to identify and mitigate health risks associated with business activities as well as leverage health opportunities, especially for customers, communities, and contractors.
Moreover, you are a key part of our multidisciplinary Shell Health Asia Pacific Team, passionate about helping Shell deliver more and cleaner energy solutions. You will be a valued member of the broader Shell Health community globally and will contribute to Shell’s strategic success by reporting to the Country Health Manager India in leading the company to have the healthiest workforce in the industry and the most value-adding health function – Powering Healthier Lives.
What’s the role?
As the Senior Health Lead India, you will need the ability to adapt and integrate diverse employee needs (e.g., office vs operational site; city vs remote locations; asset vs project phases), shifting business requirements and demands relating to health and wellbeing, manage key stakeholders, and deliver on Shell Health’s business objectives. The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Implementing Group strategy and standards for Health, including compliance with national laws and regulations; deliver responsibilities with regards to managing and evaluating the provision of high-quality occupational health for Shell Operating Assets and Business Units in Shell India.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating, with key stakeholders, a comprehensive outcome-focused Health plan for employees and the Shell Operated businesses in India.
- Design, execute and provide oversight to specific programs such as on Workplace Mental Wellbeing, Health Promotion initiatives & Medical Disability Management.
- Assuring business on health risk management, implementation of Health Standards and other Health Aspects of the Shell’s HSE Framework (SEAM) in compliance with relevant occupational health legislation.
- Coach, supervise and support other health colleagues, e.g., occupational health nurse, industrial hygienist.
- Work with regional Health delivery team to collate issues from the frontline, create optimized solutions and effectively disseminate best practices.
- Participate in and/or lead global health projects.
- Multifaceted stakeholder management including business leaders, GMs, Project Managers and HSE leaders, Peer Health Leads/Managers, Group SMEs, Asset Managers, inter-industry leaders, government health leaders, and regulators.
What we need from you

Furthermore, you must have:
- Primary qualification in Health: Medical degree.
- Postgraduate/tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or Human Factors is desirable.
- Extensive experience in occupational health or any of the other health disciplines, preferably acquired working within a large organization in the oil and gas or comparable industry.
- Understanding of population health and the wider determinants of good health and experience of implementing health promotion interventions to deliver improvements in health and wellbeing.
- Ability to engage and influence Senior leaders (country chairs, local/ regional business and functional leaders)
- People management experience and skills including team building, networking, building trust, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
- A commitment to authentic, honest, open, and transparent communication.
- Strong skills in project management, verbal & written communication and time management
- Deep commitment to Goal Zero, safety leadership and personal accountability
