System Engineer- Wells Deployment
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a team responsible for IT Support of Shell’s industry-leading Well-Deployment technology. Shell has developed Well-Deployment, a set of innovative drilling technologies that combine real-time data, remote operations and drilling automation. These modular systems are based on Kongsberg Digital (KDI) software and hosted in the Amazon Cloud and with additional Shell Proprietary applications for Analytics and Advanced calculations. Well-Deployment is designed to help Shell and its partners to improve safety, increase operational efficiency and control the costs associated with drilling.

The purpose of the Systems Engineer Well-Deployment IT is to provide IT Support for the Well-Deployment Technical Landscape (Infrastructure, Applications and Data) ensuring 24*7 seamless service delivery. In addition, Engineers will work on a range of service development and project activities.

What's the role
As the System Engineer for Well-Deployment, you will be required to work based in Bangalore as part of a Global 24*7 team. You will be providing proactive and reactive IT support to Shell’s Global Drilling Rig fleet.
Other responsibilities include:
You will follow established ITIL processes and procedures (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) and deliver services in accordance with SLA Targets
In your role you will be required to work across a multidiscipline support organisation, bringing together the various parties to resolve issues as quickly as possible minimizing business impact.
You may be required to participate in the hours on call Rota and work in compliance with information security policies and procedures
You must be highly motivated with good communication skills with proven ability to work within a team environment and the ability to work unsupervised
Assure all technical work is delivered to high standards following Well-Deployment build & deployment cookbooks and SOPs (standard operating procedures)
Adheres to the company’s management process for the resolution of problems and is assigned to the Well-Deployment team. Coordinates all work assigned to the team queues.
Adheres to the Company change management process in the communication and coordination of changes that impact any Company production computing systems.
Develop and implement processes as required to ensure that work is delivered to high standards and review quality assurance processes to enhance performance
Track performance by measuring business performance and the achievement of Wells IT objectives and goals
Must be committed to continuous improvement of wells IT capabilities by challenging TLS Wells IT operational concepts and processes
Virtual working in a global environment with culturally diverse teams. Managing multiple delivery priorities and multiple demand requests. Working with multiple stakeholders in various organizations.
Business awareness – to understand the critical processes and schedules of the customers’ business.
Maintain Technical awareness – ensuring that a broad understanding of the business services dependent on each part of the landscape is maintained, in a constantly changing environment.
Offshore and Onshore drilling is often undertaken in harsh environments which present special challenges in delivering IT Services
What we need from you
A Graduate of Engineering or Science or Business degree with at least 6 years of experience in a Global IT role supporting a broad range of IT Infrastructure, Applications and Data Services
ITIL Certified (Incident, Change, Problem, Release)
Experience in installation, configuration and support of a broad range of IT Infrastructure Components and Applications.
Relevant IT Technologies: Windows Active Directory, DFS, DNS, Windows Server Administration, Cloud Technologies – Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Azure, Virtualization (VM Ware and Hyper-V), Networks, Cisco Routers, Switches and VLANs, VSAT, Windows Client/Server, IIS, Firewalls, Cabling and connectivity, MS SQL database, infrastructure monitoring, Anti-Virus administration, Network Load Balancers (Big IP F5, ELB etc..), HA and cluster configuration
Scripting experience – PowerShell, VB Script, WMI, Python (optional)
Flexible shift timings between 06:00 and 21:00 IST
Proven ability to interface with vendors and influence 3rd Parties for the delivery of IT services
Highly motivated with excellent communication/interpersonal skills and proven ability to work within a team environment and work unsupervised
Customer-focused approach with excellent problem-solving skills
Flexible, adaptable and able to work under pressure and efficiently multitask
Good to have an experience in an Oil and Gas industry
Good to have experience in deploying and supporting Wells Drilling applications (i.e. Insite, Petrolink, Kongsberg digital real time applications like Discovery, Sitecom etc.)
Good to have experience working with Wells Drilling data providers (like Baker, Schlumberger, Pason, NOV, Weatherford etc.)
