Auxiliary Police (Constable)
This role will be based in Bintulu
Position Purpose:
The role of Security Shift Officer is integral in managing security during his/her shift at Rosmari & Marjoram (R&M) Plant. He / She under direct command of the Security Shift Lead. Under the direction of Security Shift Lead, the Security Shift Officer is expected to perform law enforcement (within the remit of AP powers) at fixed posts or patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle and perform a variety of protective duties. This includes enforcement of pertinent administrative rules and regulations governing traffic control, parking, building or other facility access, and breaches in physical security controls (locks, fences, gates, or other barriers). When enforcing rules and regulations established to accomplish the protective mission, you will control the movement of personnel and protect lives and personal property in and around Key Point 1 property being protected. You will carry out related duties such as escorting persons and valuables, making preliminary checks of violations and preparing reports of incidents or security conditions. You may also be assigned “control desk” duties; i.e. monitoring various alarm systems, closed circuit television systems (CCTV), telephone and radio networks. Constables serving at the control desk relay messages, maintain logs, and assist in dispatching personnel and equipment to meet emergency situations.
Specific Tasks and Targets:
- Report to Security Shift Lead.
- Individual contributor with no direct reports.
- Occasionally interfaces with Royal Malaysian Police, Industry Enforcement Teams and The People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA)
- Command Contract Security workforce as and when required.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Manage and maintain Security Control Room.
- Monitor CCTV and report to Security Shift Lead upon sighting any security related incidents.
- Conduct bag, vehicle, storage and etc. searches as and when required or if instructed to conduct such searches.
- Manage access control and people movement to and from R&M plant.
- Provide appropriate initial and ongoing frontline response to a wide range of incidents that may include complex and confrontational situations, assessing immediate risk, threat and harm to determine a proportionate response in line with the law, policy and guidance.
- Take a leading role in establishing localized partnerships to problem solve, engage with, response and support organizations, groups and individuals across communities in line with the Force’s planned approach.
- Effectively engage with victims, witnesses, suspects and the vulnerable, in accordance with equality, diversity and human rights considerations, to provide initial support, direct towards relevant services, establish relationships and gather information that prevents and reduces crimes,
- Maintain awareness of potential and actual risks to individuals, taking appropriate action to protect and support those in need of public protection to pre-empt or effectively address safety / vulnerability issues.
- Gather and handle information, intelligence, and evidence from a variety of sources, in line with legislation, policies and guidance, taking the appropriate action to support investigations, law enforcement and potential criminal justice proceedings.
- Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects in relation to appropriate crimes and investigations, to gather information that has the potential to support law enforcement objectives.
- Conduct first line analysis of information, intelligence, and evidence to determine significance, generate lines of enquiry, inform decision making and support evidence-based policing.
- Remain within the boundaries of their assigned patrol area, unless authorized to leave by the supervisors of the communicators.
- Carry out duties in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Police Act, HSSE Control Framework, Data Protection Act and other applicable legislation.
- Justify and professionally account for actions to ensure adherence to legal frameworks and key working principles, policies, and guidance.
- Support the implementation of problem solving and evidence-based policing initiatives by championing and applying relevant methodologies and approaches to area of work.
- To actively pursue meaningful and harmonies working relations with colleagues and other police personnel ensuring that a positive team spirit is achieved.
- To carry out all other duties as instructed by supervisors or as dictated by circumstances.

Experience and Qualifications Required
- Malaysian citizen
- While prior experience in security roles is advantageous, individuals with little to no experience are encouraged to apply (on-the-job training will be provided)
- Meets all requirements set by Royal Malaysia Police (Auxiliary Police Constable Rank Provisions) with minimum academic eligibility:
1. Candidates with SPM in the year or before 1998, required to pass BM and able to produce SPM certificate
2. Conditional requirement given to candidates with SPM starting 1999 which they need to have minimum PASS in 5 subjects including BM.
3. Conditional requirement given to candidates with SPM starting 2013 which they need to have minimum PASS in 5 subjects including BM & SEJARAH.
- Completed Basic Police Training at Pusat Latihan Polis (PULAPOL)
- Physically competent to perform job as frontline employee.
- Conversant with location and operation of all security monitoring equipment and technology
- Demonstratingresilience andahighdegree ofpersonalresponsibility with an ability to appropriately prioritize and plan own work.
- Ability to develop/maintain networking with relevant external stakeholders, e.g. law enforcement agencies.
