What’s the role

Join as a R&M OGP PACO Instrument Engineer to provide expertise on all aspects of reliability engineering for the first Deepwater Sour Gas development in Sarawak, the Rosmari and Marjoram fields.

What you’ll be doing

Executes accountabilities, but not limited to below, which may be included as and when required to ensure successful ORA processes and OPERATE phase of R&M OGP:

  • Relentless pursuit of Goal zero target with no harm to people (Personal Safety) and no Leak (Process Safety) 
  • Initial focus during project execution phase will be to ensure asset readiness and to lead the integrated project and asset team to start up Offshore facilities and OGP safely. During the operation phase, accountable for safe and reliable production of Rosmari & Marjoram fields to meet agreed production/ emissions/ discharge/HSSE business targets and drive towards top quartile R&M Asset lifecycle performance. 
  • Developing and integrating complex systems that manage R&M OGP operations, including control systems, safety systems, and communication networks and instrument device. 
  • Ensuring all designs and implementations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements and documenting all processes and decisions.
  • Support Management of Change (MoC) processes and manage deviation to ALARP. Ensure mitigations are implemented with confirmed understanding of workforces in R&M and OGP.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to understand and document the technical and operational requirements of the R&M and OGP project.
  • Conducting feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed systems.
  • Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies to address them.
  • To provide functional leadership, technical support, and strategic planning in the instrumentation/ system Engineering discipline for assigned production units to deliver top quartile performance.
  • Analysing instrumentation/system performance data to identify areas for improvement and reporting findings to management.
  • Regularly maintaining systems to ensure they operate efficiently and troubleshooting any issues that arise to minimize downtime.
  • Ensuring all instrumentation/ systems comply with industry safety standards and regulations. This includes conducting hazard analysis and risk assessments.
  • Providing coaching, training, and support to plant personnel on the instrumentation/ systems.
  • Carry out audits of worksites including proactive safe behaviour and document findings.
  • Ensuring the integrity of all Instrumentation/ system in the plant by providing professional expertise continually working towards improving plant availability, reliability and assisting the maintenance section on instrumentation/ system maintenance.
  • Responsible for leading instrumentation/ system natural team to identify work scope, preparation, scheduling, and execution of Instrumentation/ system related activities. 
  • Responsible for maintaining instrumentation/ system engineering assurance functions and providing in-depth specialist technical expertise to support other departments in production, maintenance, projects, and technology to sustain continuous and uninterrupted plant.
  • Responsible for OPEX/ CAPEX build-up and spend for Instrumentation/ system related activities.
  • Responsible as Contract Holder/ NDCR for Instrumentation/ system related OGP operate phase contracts. 
  • Maintains effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including area maintenance managers, turnaround managers, project managers and senior management. The nature of the role involves leading and participating in multiple coordinates with the various engineering department to execute the appropriate maintenance techniques of preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) for all Instruments equipment in the plant.
  • Actively support and provide technical expertise in technical studies and failure investigations, process and Instrument/ system diagram reviews, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and HAZOPs etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, industry codes, standards, and recommended practices, as well as Shell standards and best practices. 
  • Provide expertise, support, and solutions in the effective Manage Equipment Care (MEC) of instrumentation/ system to ensure safe and reliable maintenance and operations related to OGP. This includes analysis of failure modes, developing specific maintenance strategies and performance standards for instrumentation/ system, performance monitoring, problem solving and continuous improvement during run and maintain, projects, plant changes and turnarounds.

What you bring

  • Engineering degree in Instrumentation, Chemical, Control, Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant engineering branch with more than 10 years related experience in process automation, controls, and instrumentation. 
  • Good command of English & Bahasa Malaysia communication/writing skills, with ability to interface well with various internal/external stakeholders.
  • Experiences in Sour Gas Plant or Integrated Refinery/Petrochemical plant.
  • Extensive experience in the Instrumentation discipline including FGS devices. 
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to take leads, influence without authority, facilitation, manage performance and expected to champion and drive the business goals.
  • Good leadership, stakeholder management, planning, communication/writing and problem-solving skills. 
  • Expertise in smart instrumentation, communication protocols (HART, FO, Modbus), and SIL-rated devices.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Power BI, and OPEX and CAPEX budget management.
  • Familiarity with deepwater operations and experience as a Contract Holder (CH)/ NDCR is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with OTS (PCD Security) compliance.
  • Certification in functional safety (e.g., TÜV, IECEx) is an advantage.
