Market Risk Analyst
What's the role?
Shell Energy Australia (SEAu) is where gas, power, environmental products, renewables and energy solutions all come together, and is home to Shell’s Gas and Power trading businesses.
As Market Risk Analyst, you will require a blend of analytical, communicative, and strategic skills to manage risks associated with the financial markets, investments, and trading strategies.
Below is a breakdown of the key aspects of the role:
P&L and Position Analysis:
Analyse Profit & Loss and Position results to identify and challenge factors influencing day-to-day fluctuations.
MR Function Support:
Contribute to the growth of the MR function through participation in ongoing project work.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Daily analysis of short-term and long-term trading activities, ensuring that all operations adhere to the established controls.
Issues Resolution:
Liaise with the Front Office to address and resolve any issues as they arise.
Trade Monitoring:
Ensuring that daily trades stay within set limits and verifying them against trade documentation.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
A tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, or Risk Management is required for the role, as well as in-depth knowledge and experience in trading and risk valuation techniques preferably in Power and Gas trading.
In addition, this role requires an inquisitive mindset with the ability to apply strategic and lateral thinking to trading strategies, and effectively communicate and engage with multiple stakeholders and teams across the business.
Flexible work options are available and considered for this role, the position is based in Brisbane however options to consider a Melbourne based candidate may also be available with a hybrid work option.
