
Commercial Analyst
This position is part of Commercial organization which is at the heart of Shell’s Argentina Upstream Ambition which is to deliver USD 1 bln FCF by the end of the decade.
This role supports Shell Argentina’s business by managing the back office of the key commercial operations. Responsibilities include issuing and tracking invoices, coordinating payments to third parties, recovering operational expenses, and ensuring accurate tracking of oil certifications. The role also serves as the main point of contact for onboarding clients and addressing vendor inquiries. All activities are conducted in alignment with Shell’s control frameworks to enable business growth and operational excellence.
Scope
Shell’s Argentina existing position is comprised of four unconventional operated blocks, three unconventional non-operated blocks located in the Neuquén basin and a conventional non operated block in the Northwest basin. The current value of the portfolio is around USD 5.0 bln.
Shell Argentina has as well a 60% working interest in a 100 km oil pipeline (JV with PAE and Pluspetrol) connecting with Oldelval (main trunk line that connects to the local refineries and to a port in the Atlantic) and a 13% working interest in the Vaca Muerta Norte pipeline (JV with YPF, Vista and Equinor) connecting to the Transandean pipeline allowing crude exports to Chile.
Shell Argentina is as well participating in the main new oil midstream project (VMOS) which involves constructing a 450 km pipeline from Allen to Punta Colorada (Port), Province of Río Negro, along with onshore tanks and two single point moorings (SPM). The project is designed to have a preliminary export capacity of 550 k bopd, with Shell’s participation of 8% equity in the SPV for the project and a 40kbopd firm capacity.
The four operated blocks are:
- Sierras Blancas, Cruz de Lorena and CASO where Shell is currently in ‘harvest mode’ and producing 30 kbopd.
- Bajada de Añelo, BAN, with an EPF planned for September 2025 adding 7.5 kbopd (SS) of processing capacity.
The three non-operated blocks are:
- Bandurria Sur (BS) (operated by YPF), also in ‘harvest mode’ currently producing 55 kbopd (16.5 kbopd Shell share).
- Rincón La Ceniza and La Escalonada, RlC & LE, (operated by Total) which are in predevelopment phase.
- Acambuco, ACA, operated by Panamerican Energy (PAE), is the conventional block located in the Northwest basin.
Shell’s total current production is 55 kbopd and will continue its growth path focusing on value.
Accountabilities
The Back Office Analyst is accountable for:
- Management of invoicing, accruals and collecting for sales of crude oil to the domestic and export market, midstream services (electricity & gas) to our partners, including issuing invoices and tracking their payment.
- Coordination and follow up of payments to third parties (20 + landowners, 10+ suppliers), acting as a point of contact for invoice-related inquiries, payment follow-up, and issue resolution.
- Monitoring and recovery of operating expenses to our partners in OSBALL (midstream asset).
- In charge of tracking and verification of daily oil certifications in the entire midstream services (Oldelval, VMON, VMOC, OTE, OTASA, OSBALL) against plan.
- Prepare production, transport and quality bank information to provide to the tax department for royalty payment.
- Responsible for onboarding new clients for invoicing purposes, keeping their records up to date, and acting as the focal point for all related inquiries.
Requirements:
- Business or Technical degree with 2+ years of industry experience. (desirable)
- 2+ years of administrative experience. (desirable)
- Good oral and written level of English, as the candidate will interact with teams abroad.
