Digital Implementer
Shell EMEA Lubricants operates in over 115 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We supply approximately 1 billion liters of lubricant annually to a diverse customer base, including major car manufacturers, independent workshops, national utility companies, and wind farms, serving both B2C and B2B segments.
The Supply Chain Optimisation & Development team, of which the Digital & Automation team is a part of, is accountable for all capital expenditure (~$80M per year) across EMEA. Within LSC, this team invests in the future of our assets, which consists of a network of 9 lubricant/grease manufacturing locations, to become modern, flexible, and adaptable to future customer needs.
The Digital Implementer is a member of the Digital & Automation team. The team is accountable for identifying, scoping and implementing end to end digital and automation opportunities that create value for Shell. Driven by a dynamic landscape, automation, robotics, and data visibility play pivotal roles for LSC EMEA.
The role reports into the Digital & Automation Manager.
WHAT’S THE ROLE
Are you a data engineering enthusiast who speaks both ‘business’ and ‘tech’ and can translate the two? If so, keep reading!
Over the years, we’ve built a rich and powerful data platform—but we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible.
Now, we’re entering a new phase—one where data becomes a true enabler for everyone across every layer of our organisation and beyond:
We’re making data more accessible and actionable for people who need it most—our internal teams. Imagine enabling people to talk to their data instead of digging through endless reports. That’s the kind of intuitive, intelligent access you’re after—where answers are just a question away!
We’re seamlessly integrating data into other solutions. Think of optimisation algorithms running continuously and autonomously in the background, uncovering major savings every single day—because you built the pipeline that turned a month-long manual task into a one-click solution. That’s real impact.
We’re moving beyond batch processing and unlocking real-time data flows--- giving us second-by-second visibility into how our operations run! The control rooms are already under construction—but now it’s time to bring the data in. Picture your work—data processed from our sensors—displayed on big screens showing our operations!
And where decisions don’t need a human touch? We’re embedding automation into our processes so that everyone can focus on what matters!
Are you that ‘hands-on builder’ with a can-do mindset that helps us bring our digital ideas to life?
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a Digital Implementer, you’ll:
Engineer high-performance data pipelines using cutting-edge tools like Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and PySpark—powering both batch and real-time data flows that keep our operations running smarter and faster.
Turn ideas into reality by designing and delivering Proof of Concepts—from whiteboard to deployment—within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
Model complex data from systems like SAP, Orchestr8, and Kinaxis to mirror our supply chain processes—so we can unlock advanced features like Azure Databricks Genie and drive real business value.
Think beyond the ask. Often, people don’t know what’s possible—so you’ll stay one step ahead, uncovering hidden opportunities and delivering solutions they didn’t even know they needed.
Collaborate closely with supply chain professionals across LSC EMEA, ensuring your technical solutions solve real-world problems—not just theoretical ones.
Bring an entrepreneurial mindset—always looking for smarter, faster, and more automated ways to improve how we work.
