
HSSE Data Analyst
What's the role
The SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that supports Shell’s business & assets around the world. Technical Asset Support (TAS), which sits in SEAM, is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell Performance Framework to reach Shell’s ultimate potential Integrated Gas, Upstream, Downstream, Renewables Energy and Trading & Supply. This position is part of TRDI (Technical reporting and Digital Integration) within TAS, provides Global Safety Reporting, Insights and improvements via high quality /cost-competitive technical resources, who are supporting our Shell sites remotely yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end SEAM, AMS work processes. Deploying standardized process excellence, rapid replication and digitalization while harnessing value intrinsic to data.
What you will be doing
- Maintain and enhance dashboards that track safety and environmental performance, making data easily accessible and understandable.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure data accuracy for safety and environmental reporting.
- Support the development and review of safety and environmental metrics to help shape strategies and meet performance goals.
- Prepare timely and high-quality reports for leadership teams on safety and environmental performance (monthly, quarterly).
- Provide inputs for business communications and townhalls related to safety and environment.
- Manage annual target setting for safety and environmental indicators.
- Deliver data for benchmarking with global standards (GBG, IOGP).
- Coordinate the yearly review process for performance monitoring and reporting.
- Represent the team in site meetings and manage the Sphera system structure related to safety and environment.
- Act as a subject matter expert for safety and environmental reporting during key reporting periods.
- Stay up to date with mandatory safety and environmental training.
- Support improvements to reporting systems and processes by working with business and technical teams.
- Assist in developing KPIs for assets and support standardization of reporting processes.
- Train team members on tools like PMR, FIM, Sphera Cloud, Business Objects, and DAP.
- Specify, test, and validate updates to reporting dashboards and scripts.
- Facilitate communication between technical and business teams to ensure smooth system changes.
- Handle tasks independently using established procedures and solve complex issues using available resources.
What we need from you
- Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- A degree in engineering or a postgraduate qualification in Health, Safety & Environment, along with relevant industry experience.
- Must have strong expertise in handling large data sets, skilled in using Power BI for creating comprehensive visual dashboards and performance tracking.
- Familiarity with the HSSE & SP Control Framework Manual, currently referred to as the SEAM standard.
- Extensive hands-on experience in HSSE reporting or operational roles, with a solid understanding of Process Safety, Technical Safety
- Previous experience in HSSE reporting and digital tools/ platforms.
- Strong understanding of HSSE and environmental concepts, especially in oil & manufacturing industries.
- Experience in safety/environmental reporting, including sustainability and ESG metrics.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with benchmarking standards (GBG, IOGP) and annual target setting.
- Working knowledge of analytics and data visualization (Advanced Excel, Power BI, similar tools).
- Experience with reporting systems like FIM, Sphera Cloud, Business Objects, and DAP.
- Good understanding of event management tools and system structures.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, consulting, and communication skills.
- Exposure to lean practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to work closely with business stakeholders and build effective relationships.
- Experience collaborating with IT teams, especially in roles like product owner or business representative.
- Capable of implementing and testing changes to reporting dashboards and scripts.
- Willingness to provide interim support for reporting operations when needed.
