The Role
JOB DESCRIPTION – PURPOSE
The Upstream Revenue Accounting Project analyst role is responsible for managing the Revenue / Regulatory projects, Prior Period Adjustments and any backlog related accounting activities which encompasses
- Recording of Gas related prior period adjustments for backlog projects such as processing allowance, field fuel, TLP subsea and plant revisions
- Validation of ONRR royalty for processed PPA’s and to ensure to pay accurate royalties
- Analyze, classify and reconcile legacy balances of accounts receivable/payable of producing and divested assets
- Conducts audits of Revenue records to ensure proper documentation is maintained to evidence those controls are operating effectively as required for SoX Compliance
- Contribute with Digitalization/automation projects within the DW Revenue Accounting Team, as necessary
- Support S4 Hana implementation
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY CHALLENGES:
The project analyst must be familiar with aspects of revenue accounting and understand the various issues impacting the industry.
- Record and validate gas PPNs, retrograde and flash gas revenue, royalty, and related expenses for assigned fields in accordance with policies, regulatory laws, and industry guidelines
- Perform thorough analysis of accounts receivable and payable balances, and ensure integrity of account data through status of accounts and reporting compliance
- Administer outstanding receivable and payable accounts balances (such as pipeline/plant cash out settlements, partner field imbalances etc.)
- Reply to various audit and stakeholder requests as well as in-house audits as necessary
- Reply to various external audit such as ONRR and EY and stakeholder requests as well as in-house audits as necessary
- Leverage Digital Task Force group to learn new tools and implement for the betterment of the process
- Operate controls effectively, maintaining appropriate documentation to evidence those controls as required for SOX compliance
- Assist with key DW projects within the Revenue Accounting Team, as necessary
Leadership
• Ability to independently analyze and troubleshoot basic process and system issues that arise, make adjustments and corrections as needed. If actions are needed that are not within the desk scope or authority, bring solutions to appropriate level needed for handling
• Ability to communicate with Shell business partner representatives in a professional manner
Position Description – Dimension
The Upstream Americas Revenue Accounting group handles the recording of oil & gas revenues and payments of related royalty, transportation, and other expenses. This role is required to monitor these recordings and help ensure they are accurate.
Oil Production: 8.0 - 9.0 Million Barrels /Month
Gas Production: 12 - 15 MMCF's/Month
Receivables Billed & Collected / Month: $700 - $900Mn / Month
Royalties & Taxes Payable Monthly: $70 - $100Mn
KEY EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES:
• Bachelor's/College Degree holder (Finance/Accounting) / CA Inter / ICWA Final
• 4-6 years of experience in related accounting processes or upstream background
• Previous work experience in SAP environment is needed
