
Tax Specialist
The role is designed for supporting the delivery of activities carried out by the Manage Direct Tax US Federal Tax team. The current role is primarily in the areas of US Federal, compliance, accounting, and reporting and developing good working relationships with various stakeholders (including Country Tax teams and Other FO processes).
The role involves below individual contributor responsibilities:
Primarily acting as a first level preparer of Federal returns
Prepare and support Tax Reporting Activities
Understand, manage, and provide oversight of various tax applications
Participate in various CI initiatives to gain efficiencies in the area’s compliance and reporting activities
Facilitate weekly team meetings (e.g., Visual Management meetings)
More specifically, the accountabilities include the following
HSSE: Ensure sound HSSE practice in day-to-day work.
Business/process responsibilities and metrics:
Deliver on time and accurate Reporting and compliance Activities.
Understand and operate US tax provisioning/compliance tools
Understand Group Accounting and Reporting changes and enable incorporation of such changes and in the process as may be relevant.
Co-ordinate/support for Group Reporting and US Federal & State compliance teams.
Proactively engage in issues like ownership of Key tax Assumptions, Work Instructions & Training framework and ensuring that the same are kept up to date and robust.
Lead and manage and transition additional/new scope migrations of MDT activities.
Support in team management, engagement planning and resourcing
Support continuous professional development and good practices in Americas team
Proactively engage with Business and Country tax teams to enable business knowledge sharing with the
MDT team and help embed into processes as relevantKeeps abreast of Business developments and Business performance drivers
Support in ensuring clear roles and responsibilities and compliance with segregation of duties/authorities across
Cl responsibilities:
Continuous focus on improvement opportunities (ESSA) in process & content identify & actions opportunities to reduce complexity, promote best practices, provide focus on financial issues & achieve operational excellence
Pursue identification & implementation of Cl project pipeline and aid in achieving the process targets.
Stakeholder management:
Ensure correct and timely escalations of process exceptions or tolerance/variances and their resolution;
Proactively engage and maintain strong stakeholder and business connectivity.
Dimensions:
Business Covered: Upstream, Downstream Trading, Corporate and Financial Databases and Tools: Multiple ERPs viz. GSAP, Blueprint, SERP etc., Software tools like Corptax, Group tax provisioning tool i.e., Longview, Calendar etc. Tax Returns: Federal, State and Property Tax

Skills & Requirements:
Chartered Accountants with relevant work experience in Financial Reporting and IFRS
Recognized professional qualification and a member of a recognized accounting body with > one year’s broad professional experience. Work experience of audit environments in multinational companies or professional firms would be preferable. - (OR)- Bachelors / master’s in finance degree with years broad professional experience out of which minimum 4 years of experience in migrated tax finance activity in multinational companies or professional firms.
Working knowledge of various ERP systems used in Shell Group and excellent MS Office skills.
Good understanding of Control Frameworks, controls in a tax environment and tax accounting under GAAP and far IFRS.
Effective influencing skills and communicator of complex tax compliance issues; both written and oral.
