What’s the role

This role involves performing planned and corrective instrument maintenance and project activities as part of the site maintenance team. The goal is to ensure the health and safety of personnel, protect the environment, and maintain the integrity and reliability of plant equipment and systems, all in compliance with statutory laws and company policies.

What you’ll be doing

Key responsibilities include:

HSSE

  • Demonstrate Safety Leadership and support site leadership in delivering HSSE essentials.

  • Contribute to the site HSSE plan through engagement and assurance activities.

  • Work in compliance with Shell Work Instructions and Instrument Specific Job Plans.

  • Manage individual competency, ensuring all items are up to date.

  • Participate in the Site Duty Rota (1 week in 5), responding to emergencies and out-of-hours maintenance.

  • Handle stakeholder management.

  • Communicate and coordinate with the Production Operations team for safe handover and delivery of instrument maintenance tasks.

  • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation systems including; Fire and Gas Systems, ESD/EDP, Safeguarding Logic, Measurement and Control Systems.

  • Safely execute work using the P-Vision permit system, adhering to safety and maintenance procedures.

  • Record technical history, update department procedures, and assist in commissioning new equipment.

  • Support the site Perform Maintenance Execution (PME) focal point through a solid understanding of instrument maintenance processes

  • Sound understanding of COMAH site regulations and their interaction with site instrumentation systems

  • Perform the role of Authorised Safety System Tester (ASST), taking on the responsibility for the maintenance of all safety critical elements as per the facility COMAH report.

What you bring

  • Possesses significant instrument maintenance experience, including a background in the Petrochemical industry, with a suitable technical HNC/D in Instrumentation, Measurement and Control.

  • Instrument Maintenance trade qualification (S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work (P-Vision)

  • CMMS experience, preferably SAP

  • Experience in Turnarounds or small maintenance projects is advantageous.

  • Must be self-motivated, have good communication skills, a high degree of self-reliance with appropriate technical skills, to ensure prompt responses are made based on mature technical judgement. Flexibility to adapt to constant change is essential to enable the incumbent to work in a highly motivated and empowered environment.

  • Continuous Improvement mind-set with a desire to improve the efficiency of existing processes , as well as an ability to problem solve and take ideas through to completion

  • Experience as a Competent Instrument Person (CIP) on a Shell asset is desirable
