Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.

What's the role

The APJ-OMP Support is responsible for developing subject matter expertise in the use of the APJ-OMP S&OP (forecasting + optimization) and daily scheduling models and in the accompanying MSC APJ work processes. This role will help support the global Chemicals value chain with guidance from the APJ-OMP Product Owners (PO).  The main customers will be the Business Management Sales & Marketing, ROM (REEs and EMCs) and Supply teams that are heavy users of the tool.

  • Act as center of excellence for users on work process and tool use. 

  • Understand the business work process and use for the APJ-OMP tool and translate it into the improvement use cases (user stories)

  • Collaborate with PO on tool development and enhancements including use of Power-BI and basic programing changes for Shell developed changes

  • Collaborate with Shell IT and/or OMP vendor to troubleshoot issues.

  • Engage with Business Management Team users to develop and/or support automating processes based on business requirements

  • Ensures that the APJ tool picks up data from all relevant sources (plant historian, SAP, pricing toolkit via Chemicals data platform)

  • Coordinate data interface bug fixes or enhancements with IT

  • Provide insights and steer on opportunities for integration with other supply and commercial tools

  • Supports with the onboarding of new employees with APJ tool and all relevant work processes along with the vendor, POs, Margin Optimization and operations RPEs and regional SMEs

Role Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, with relevant refinery oil and gas experience
  • Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 3-4 years on planning and scheduling space or supply chain optimization
  • Experience in planning using LP models
  • Able to demonstrate commercial mindset to identify and drive margin opportunities to delivery
  • A high level of comfort in using computer-based tools as well as unit simulators
  • Hands on experience working with Databases (SQL, MS access) and SAP is a plus
