Sr Tech Specialist - WRFM
Where do you fit in
If you want to help shape the next big global transformation at Shell and are excited about pioneering the future of WRFM, using your strong technical skills to support our assets and close the value gap, then this is your chance to ensure no money is left on the table.
The Well Reservoir Facilities Management (WRFM) delivery engine at Shell is crucial for maximizing the end-to-end value of our assets. This is achieved through insightful expertise integration and allocation across wells, reservoirs, and producing systems, resulting in the delivery of optimization opportunities and interventions as needed. WRFM delivery requires deliberate effort in well integrity, surveillance and optimization, well interventions, and facilities debottlenecking to consistently derive maximum asset value throughout the lifecycle.
The Sr. Tech Specialist – WRFM role will be based in Kuala Lumpur and report to the Factory Excellence Lead (FEL) in the Subsurface & WRFM (SSW) team within Technical Asset Support (TAS). You will be part of a team established to incubate new initiatives and key global programs, one of which is the WRFM Factory, supporting Shell’s ambition of standardizing global workflows across all key assets in the WRFM space. WRFM Factory is the pathfinder and will be the primary focus.
What’s the role?
As a Sr Tech Specialist – WRFM in the FEL vertical, you will:
- Execute the deployment of WRFM Factory workflows/Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) as per agreed Terms of Reference and Factory Implementation Plan, together with the asset WRFM Factory focals. The primary focus is successful implementation for Shell Malaysia Upstream, with opportunities to replicate success to other key assets globally.
- Deliver high-quality Production Technology (PT) technical input to activities in support of the WRFM Factory program, including but not limited to these workflows: Well Integrity & Testing (WI), Exception Based Surveillance (EBS), Opportunity Identification (OI), and Integrated Production System Modelling (IPSM). This involves proactively working together with various disciplines in the Asset teams (e.g., Production Technologist, Wells Intervention/Engineering, Process Engineering, Production Operations, Reservoir Engineering, Production Chemistry).
- Manage well integrity for assigned wells by ensuring the surveillance and maintenance of Well’s Safety Critical Element is completed according to Group and local standards.
- Identify and drive performance improvement initiatives that deliver top-quartile WRFM Factory delivery by driving standardization of best practices.
- Provide coaching to other TAS SSW WRFM Factory staff across TAS hubs and support any functional improvement initiatives.
What do we need from you?
- With relevant industry experience in Petroleum Engineering with an emphasis on well/reservoir management and well intervention design.
- Skilled in core Production Technology competencies: well performance enhancement, well and completion design, well integrity management, and design and execution of well interventions like acid stimulation, water shut off, gas well de-liquification, with the ability to work independently, as well as challenge and support others.
- Demonstrated track record in delivering production enhancement gains, whether downhole or surface optimization activities.
- Good understanding of the risks and technical issues associated with subsurface, wells, and surface development opportunities.
- Experience in coordinating activities and working in large, diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
- A good understanding of integrated gas systems, gas contracts, and associated gas field planning issues. Proficient in IPSM (GAP, Prosper) modeling.
Hard skills required:
- A university degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proven opportunity coordination and integration skills.
- Relevant experience in WRFM and/or opportunity maturation.
