The Role

What's the role?

The UK OneGas Senior Inspection Engineer role is pivotal in the management of pressure equipment integrity. Located in Great Yarmouth, and with virtual possibilities, the role entails the management, coordination, and supervision of critical inspection services in support of UK Onshore and Offshore natural gas production assets with particular focus on pressure equipment integrity, utilizing the formal Inspection Body Management System (IBMS), ultimately in accordance with ISO 17020.

Key accountabilities of work areas are

  • Ensure compliance with & support improvements to IBMS (Inspection Management System). Report deviations to regional Head of Inspection.

  • Supervise the development & implementation of long- and short-term inspection plans

  • Maintain auditable competence register of inspection personnel

  • Participate in management and technical meetings of the Inspection discipline, leading where required

  • Ensure Inspection database including inspection relevant data in SAP is maintained

  • Coach, supervise and monitor the performance of inspection personnel

  • Responsible for RBI plans. Approve the decisions of expert groups as required to develop RBI plans, taking into consideration non-intrusive inspection aspirations

  • Participate in audits by external bodies e.g., Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Accreditation bodies (RvA / UKAS) and in internal audits

  • Participate as required in incident/safety investigations

  • Contributes to the Annual Inspection Report

  • Monitor NDT contractor performance

  • Act as competent person in accordance with the PSSR

What we need from You

  • Experience in leading technical teams, motivates, Coaches and Develops people, and strong abilities to deliver through others

  • The ability to remain impartial in decision making

Professional Skills

  • Externally accredited or alternatively eligible for accreditation at Chartered Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science within relevant field of study (E.g Mechanical, Metallurgical etc)

  • Proven years of relevant work experience in the inspection field and/or Pressure Equipment integrity management

  • Working level knowledge of API 510, 570 & 580 (or equivalent)

  • Knowledge of UK legislation as COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR and SCR
