What’s the role?

The Compliance Advisor will provide Compliance support for Shell Trading & Supply’s North and South America commercial trading and sales & origination activity in Natural Gas, and/or Electricity as well as the renewables space. This role will interface with the commercial staff (front-line traders, sales and origination staff, operational staff, and functions) for regulatory and policy matters, questions, and concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice related to compliance with external regulations / internal requirements, or conformance with Group Standards, Manuals and Shell Trading Policies.
  • Providing advice and guidance related to the understanding and mitigation of regulatory and compliance risks such as market manipulation, anti-trust, bribery & corruption, and money laundering, compliance with Dodd Frank rules and others.
  • Provide input, expertise, and support in the development and execution of the Compliance Training agenda.
  • Participate and represent Shell in external working groups in efforts to ensure best practices for Compliance.
  • Work with Shell Ethics & Compliance organization (including Trade Compliance, Antitrust, Anti-bribery & corruption, and Data Privacy) to ensure accurate and appropriate guidance to T&S staff.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the various lines of business in T&S and apply internal and external standards to commercial activity to ensure appropriate Compliance risk mitigations.

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • 5 or more experience in a combination of Trading Compliance or comparable Governance and Audit roles
  • Knowledge of North American physical/financial crude oil, refined products, natural gas and/or electricity markets is preferred
  • Strong understanding of trading instruments, trading strategies, and risk concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and share knowledge and learnings broadly

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
