Where do you fit in?
In the VP ship of Power you are going to be part of the GM-ship of Electrification that will aspire to promote and support the use of renewable electrical power to replace fossil based energy in industrial processes. You will be reporting to the Team Lead Electrification Products. The GM-ship includes a wide range of experts over the different areas of electrification from renewable generation to the various uses of renewable power to decarbonize industrial processes. The Electrification Products Team has a strong focus on electro-thermal (e.g. Power to Heat) product-based solutions, along with a growing focus on electro-chemical and electro-mechanical applications.
What is the role?
Multi-disciplinary team leadership in the development of commercially attractive electro-thermal product-based solutions for the electrification of industrial processes from renewable power.
More specifically, the role requires that you:
Maintain a knowledge of current and emerging electro-thermal technologies.
Lead the development and adoption of electro-thermal technologies to support delivery against the electrification product roadmap.
Translate product roadmap and customer requirements into plans for the development and deployment of electro-thermal product-based solutions.
Work seamlessly with the Electrification Integration and other complementary teams working to deliver End-to-End (E2E) electrical power-based solutions for the energy transition.
Act in a ‘product owner’ role through the full life cycle of development, deployment, and Return on Experience (RoE) for electrothermal product-based solutions.
Lead the application of ‘agile’ based product design and development to meet product specifications.
Cross functional team leadership from within the Power VPship, other specialist teams across Shell and external partners to deliver product-based solutions to firm schedule and budgetary commitments.
Apply Shell’s procedures for development and project execution to deliver the targeted outcomes with a continuous focus on quality, risk management and value creation.
Support the screening, selection, qualification, integration and management of suppliers and partners throughout the development and RoE life cycle.
Support the pursuit of commercial opportunities.
Define and manage any component and system level testing required to validate and demonstrate electro-thermal product-based solutions and their interfaces within larger integrated E2E solutions.
Manage the incorporation of RoE from first deployment and fleet experience to drive continued improvement in the product-based solutions.
Drive HSSE excellence always for personnel, operations and in the inherent design of the product-based solutions.
Skills and Requirements
What we need from you -
A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
A master’s degree or higher from a leading institution in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or a related discipline with strong components of electrical power and thermal design.
10 or more years of experience in the development and design of electro-thermal equipment or key components.
A passion and commitment to using your knowledge and experience to help the energy transition and decarbonization of society through economically attractive solutions.
Strong understanding of electrification technologies, unfired heating systems, heat transfer, thermal management, and power systems.
Knowledge of designing and directing high energy testing activities.
Experience in the development and deployment of equipment to meet stringent customer and market specifications.
Experience of working in ‘agile’ development teams with a continued and sharp focus on design for cost and manufacture.
Ability to fluently move your focus from macro techno-economic requirements and trade-offs to detailed technical questions as required.
Project management skills with strong goal focus.
Experience of delivering outcomes in a matrix organization.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Collaborative style, with a commitment to an inclusive work culture and DEI.
