PT Shell Indonesia (PTSI) has entered into an agreement for the sale of Shell’s Indonesia Mobility Value Chain Business to a joint venture entity formed by Citadel Pacific Limited and the Sefas Group (the Sale Transaction).  

By applying for the job, you understand and agree that your employment will be transferred to the entity that will hold Shell’s Indonesia Mobility Business which will, on completion of the Sale Transaction, be owned by the joint venture formed by Citadel Pacific Limited and Sefas Group. If you are successfully being selected and offered by this position, you will be given a job offer and an employment contract under PTSI for you to sign.  You will also be required to sign formal documentation in connection with the subsequent transfer of your employment to the entity that will hold Shell’s Indonesia Mobility Value Chain Business, including employment contract with such entity and a consent option declaration in due course.”

You will be part of the Trading & Supply Products organization which is at the heart of Shell’s Downstream business. T&S Products exists as the integrator with the rest of Royal Dutch Shell to enable stronger E2E value delivery. We do so through managing and optimizing the physical supply chain as well as creating value though proprietary trading. Working closely with our partner businesses, we create more, integrated value for Shell by maximizing the overall value potential across different lines of business and portfolios by delivering the right product to the right place on time at the maximum margin potential.

This is an exciting and challenging role that gives you broad autonomy and empowerment. Trading and Supply Products exist to deliver strong integrated value with our customers and Shell partners. You will be a key contributor to this integration.

Reporting into Manager Supply SG/MY/ID, you will lead the Supply organization for Indonesia. You will be overseeing a team of channel optimizers and hydrocarbon dealmakers

You will be a driving force to enable strong integrated value-delivery through working closely with the new Mobility and Chemical and Products businesses as well as within Trading and Supply (e.g. Commercial Fuels East, Trading desks, Distribution Ops).

Together, you will deliver on term & spot Hydrocarbons contracting strategies in line with the Envelope optimal plan, to negotiate and structure commercial contracts with 3rd parties, drive Channel Optimisation and end to end value (P&L) including the marketing customers for your product & depot supply chains by setting real time alternative market pricing and volume steers and lead supply chain business development activities in the region

Your Accountabilities
Specific Accountabilities include Leading Country and SME teams in:

  • Deal Making

  • Develops domestic third party term & spot hydrocarbon buy/sell contracting strategy with steering input from Channel Optimiser/Product Optimiser teams and input from SIETCO traders.

Responsible for negotiating and structuring contractual arrangements with third parties. The contracting objective is to maximize Enterprise values, to enable supply chain robustness and creating optionality. Contributes to maximizing Enterprise Integrated Value through :

  • Being the senior interface to the supply/refining market

  • Bringing meaningful market insights into the optimization process

  • Generating opportunities based on the knowledge of the Shell system and matching those to local or regional market trends

  • Maximize value from marginal barrels disposition in the spot market

  • Explore optimization opportunities on local 3rd party options (hydrocarbons and logistics)

  • Represent HCDM in the S&OP process

  • Ensures selection of contract partners who meet minimum HSSE criteria and that Shell policies and HSSE requirements are specified in all Hydrocarbons and Logistics contracts. Coordinates with Supply Operations / PQ Excellence/ Marine / Supply HSSE lead to assure Operational and Safety contract compliance.

  • Develops and maintains sound commercial relationships with 3rd party supply partners, in compliance with Shell Business Principles and Antitrust laws. Seeks and develops new optimization opportunities.

  • Accountable and responsible to facilitate smooth working interface and contract management with 3rd party suppliers and supply operations.

  • Holds the CSO (Compulsory strategic stock obligations, government agencies) interfaces

  • Representation of Shell in Industry associations and Business networks

  • Coach and develop the team towards commercial excellence, flawless execution, and Trading mindsets. Establish the skill set, trading tools & techniques, and professionalism to make a difference in this key function within TSP. Establish and manage a strong commercial talent pipeline.



Channel Optimisation

  • Responsible for the supply chain P&L and exposure including hedging decisions and short term supply plan to the depot locations, to optimise the end to end view including the marketing and trade channel values.

  • Responsible for generating and providing pricing and volume steers towards marketing and inland deal makers. To provide real time alternative market steers for available products to sales

  • Gathers demand and market intelligence from Traded markets (via Traders) and is responsible for the integrated demand forecast and demand management process with the Marketing CoB’s.

  • Acts as the SME for logistics and marketing related projects. The CO is responsible for generating new ideas/concepts or requirements around their supply chains or tools & processes. Such case the CO will scope out what is required, secure the necessary resources to support and run with the business opportunity ensuring its delivery either directly or via one of the business partners like Inland Trading, Marketing or Distribution.

  • Defining the product transfer pricings/tariff schedules with analysts from OMP to marketing businesses and provides info and support to business/marketing partners on pricing decisions.

  • Providing input for contracting, strategic or portfolio actions relating to his/her supply chains on behalf of the book.

  • Manages stocks and working capital to meet marketing, regulatory and company cash preservation requirements.

  • You will work in close collaboration with other interfaces in the Trading & Supply (e.g. Commercial Fuels East, Trading desks, Distribution Ops) and in Shell (Mobility, Chemicals and Products); to ensure alignment of E2E objectives and integrated outcome, balancing consideration for robustness of 3rd party options, in compliance with Shell Business Principles. You will be responsible for managing and developing the 3rd party relationships and delivering CFFO and NIBIAT targets in line with the business goals.


Experiences/Skills/Qualities we are looking for

  • Ideally 8 years or more experience in supply chain and optimization in the Indonesian markets and understand their supply chain uniqueness

  • Possess broad knowledge of oil markets and industry know how.

  • Track record of negotiating and delivering commercial deals.

  • Excellent at leading/influencing across organizational boundaries and possess a strong commercial acumen to drive E2E decision-making process to maximise enterprise value

  • High-capacity/quick learner

  • Ability to prioritize and troubleshoot, highly flexible

  • Strong analytical skills, able to interpret data/information quickly and translate into actionable business decisions

  • Strong commercial acumen and value chain understanding to drive commercial opportunities and improvements

  • Proven results delivery capability

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving ability to develop alternative options, solutions and ways of working continuously

  • Strong understanding of market Pricing mechanisms, exposures and risk management

  • Excellent at leading/influencing across organizational boundaries to deliver end-to-end value

  • Skilled in virtual line management; able to motivate and coach virtually. Have led Indonesian teams and familiar with exercising leadership in Indonesian culture.

  • Strong people developer who is able to lead the community through change and personally models and drives the right E2E mindset and behaviours
