Where you fit in:
The Advisor Policy & Advocacy will report to Country Head CR Malaysia. This is an important role working closely to support the Country Coordination Team and business leads in Malaysia as well as other internal and external stakeholders particularly policy makers in the government at the federal and state levels. The Advisor Policy & Advocacy is expected to provide sound expertise and delivering high quality fit for purpose integrated CR initiatives for Shell’s activities in Malaysia.

What’s the role:
This role is an important part of our Corporate Relations team,  offering deep expertise and delivering high quality fit for purpose integrated Corporate Relations and also, regulatory affair and government relationships, energy transition advocacy and new business development, for across the business in country – upstream and integrated gas, downstream and renewables, which enable business outcomes and maintain social license to operate and thriving in energy transition for Shell in Malaysia.

  • Report to and support Country Head CR Malaysia in the development and execution of integrated CR agenda and energy transition advocacies as well as stakeholders management/relationship in line with the agreed CR Malaysia plan;
  • Provide support to Country Head CR Malaysia on energy transition advocacies and NBD activities;
  • As the focal for energy transition related activities across Shell in Malaysia;
  • Support business leaders in country to develop and implement stakeholders and advocacy initiatives across Shell in Malaysia;
  • Working with shareholder representatives to ensure Group's messages are conveyed;

Be part of the country crisis management team;

  • Act as the P&A focal for the Malaysia component of the APAC CCS opportunity.


Dimensions: Internally, interface with all Shell’s Line of Businesses and relevant regional/global Policy & Advocacy subject matter experts; externally, interface with relevant decision-makers/stakeholders in energy transition agenda. Ensure consistency of delivery and communication of the Group's and energy transition narratives in Malaysia; Support on regulatory affairs and energy transition matters for Malaysia CCT.

What we need from you:
Experience:

  • Advanced degree preferred;
  • Thorough knowledge of trends shaping energy industry in Malaysia (including energy transition & decarbonisation agenda) with focus on stakeholders management and advocacy;
  • Prior experience in policy advocacy or regulatory affairs work in an international setting is a plus;
  • Excellent communication, writing and oral presentation;
  • English proficiency with preference for more than one linguistic capability;
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with integrity and discretion;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others, balance competing priorities and manage workload;
  • Display constant initiative, flexibility, efficiency, tact and diplomacy;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: communicate and establish positive relationships.
