
Maintenance Technician (Metering)
Where you fit in
The Bonga Maintenance Execution Technician reports to the Maintenance Crew Lead and will be part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-skilled team of technicians following SEAM standard AMS processes (like PME and MAC) and time-tested maintenance best practices to deliver world class performance on a consistent basis to ensure the reliability and technical integrity of the Bonga asset.
As a member of the offshore maintenance execution team, the maintenance execution technician plays a significant role in ensuring safety of personnel and integrity of the asset through compliance with the relevant safety & environmental rules/regulations, procedures and standards in operations and maintenance as well as active participation in the offshore emergency response plan as a member of the site emergency response team.
The Maintenance Execution Technician networks with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from the Offshore Asset leaders like the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), Maintenance Execution Lead (MEL), Operations Supervisor (OS), Marine Supervisor (MS), Construction Supervisor (CSR), HSE coordinator (HSEC), Shift Supervisor (SSP), Maintenance Crew Lead (MCL), etc. to other Asset Team members like the Maintenance Engineer (ME), Operations Engineer (OE), Technical Custodian Instruments (TCI), Technical Custodian Subsea (TCS), Turbine & Compressor Specialist (TCSPEC), Responsible Person Electrical (RPE) etc. as well as onshore stakeholders like the Work Preparers/Planners/Schedulers, Material Expediter, Reliability Engineers, Verification Engineers, Operations Support Team, Enhanced Problem Solving Team (EPST), DW Project Team, etc.
What is the role
The principal accountabilities of the Bonga Maintenance Execution Technician:
- Efficient execution of maintenance activities according to the task list and instruction provided in work pack.
- Feedback of quality of work preparation with suggestions for improvements.
- Recording history accurately to enable PM owners and Proactive Threat Management Engineers (PTME) further optimize PM through identification of reliability threats.
- Recording accurate hours and identifying efficiency improvements for future execution.
- Raise high quality Z1 SAP Notifications with required drawing references and photos attached.
- Suggesting practical solutions when repairs options are generated.
- Suggesting activities for which core team competencies can be developed enabling back-out of vendor and external support.
- Fully support maintenance continuous improvement drive for increased productivity and cost reduction.
- Challenge unnecessary work activity.
- Fully support drive to increase production availability to over 90% by performing required quality maintenance.
- Support Root Cause analysis reliability improvements
- Support platform critical spares stocking
- Returning unused materials
- Carry out field inspection/measurements for work preparer or engineer where needed (agreed with supervisor or crew lead)
- Manage and maintain metering activity logbooks.
- Oversee metering systems audits, quarterly validations and annual recertifications.
- Carry out Offshore Emergency Response Team Member role as may be required from time to time.
- Track own competences and request required refresher training.
- Carry out the following activities as may be assigned; Valve actuator function testing, LV Turbine Air filter change, Relief valve changeout, Ex Visual Inspection, Internal combustion engine servicing (Caterpillar engine maintenance) oil changeout, LV electrical isolation, process/mechanical isolation, F&G cleaning and function test, light bulb changeout, light inspection, valve replacement, transmission belt alignment, HVAC system function test, flange gasket replacement, fire pump integrity checks, electrical motor greasing, valve greasing, condition monitoring (vibration, oil, temp), power generator servicing and function testing, control valves calibration, rotating equipment servicing, HVAC system checks simple lifting and hoisting, electrical system earthing checks, battery maintenance, UPS inspection (Gutor UPS-autonomy and battery discharge test), fire damper checks and function testing, visual and non-intrusive inspection of pumps, motors & engines, ESD function test, LV switchboard inspection, pressure gauge calibration, relief valve calibration, rope access (abseiling) activities, Framo pump hydraulic system maintenance, Solar turbine periodic maintenance, compressor troubleshooting and maintenance, pump alignment, valve leak test, engine pre-start up and post shutdown test, level controller check/flushing, transmitter function testing, motorized valve actuator maintenance/changeout, quality measurement and sampling systems (gas chromatographs, gas densitometers, dew-point analyzers, oil-in-water analyzers, water-cut meters etc), utilities systems operations (sewage, freshwater generator, air compressor, etc), production vessel cleaning & inspection etc.
What we need from you
This role requires you to demonstrate a deep knowledge of maintenance execution practices in an industrial environment, preferably oil, gas or chemical industry. In addition, you are expected to have a learner mindset, good teamwork skills and be able to achieve results as an individual performer and as part of an integrated team.
You will be expected to have the following:
- Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience
- A national diploma (ND) or equivalent in a relevant engineering field with at least 3 years’ experience in Electrical/Instrumentation/Control systems (preferably fiscal metering, instrumentation, and control) maintenance or engineering.
- Must be computer literate and be proficient in the use of computerized maintenance management systems preferably SAP.
- Skilled at written and verbal communication
- Willing to create and manage safe changes to work practices.
- Willing to partake in audits and investigations.
- Demonstrate ability to deliver activities to good quality and good cycle times while driving down costs.
- Have good customer rapport and can work very well in teams.
- Understand oil and gas processing as well as batch offtake activites. Previous offshore experience is an advantage but not a must.
- Skilled in reading and interpretation of relevant drawings, diagrams and schematics.
- Ability to plan maintenance or engineering execution tasks
- Skilled in safe work practices as expected in an industrial setting. Experience in oil and gas safety is a huge advantage.
- Willing to undergo relevant safety training to OPITO standards e.g. BOSIET and OERTM
