Commercial Advisor
The Role
Shell Energy - Europe Gas & Power and EnvironmentalProducts(SE-EE)markets and tradesnaturalgas and poweracrossEurope and manages Shell's environmentalproducts business globally.SE-EE'scounterparties include major resourceholders of gas,upstreamproducers,investmentbanks,trading houses, utilities, powergenerators, and largeindustrial and commercialgas and powerusers.
The SE-EEContractsteam supports the SE-EEtrading business and is responsiblefor managing the entiretradingcontractsprocessfromdrafting and negotiating agreementsthroughto timely confirmation and reporting of individual trades.
The primary purpose of the Commercial Advisor position is todraftand/orreviewagreementsrequiredto enable SE- EE's deal opportunities, negotiate these agreementsdirectly with counterparties and manageinternalapprovals as necessary fordocumentexecution.
Accountabilities:
Provideaccuratepre and post-deal commercial and contractual advice to the SE-EEtrading business, including fornewCVPs,DAFs, and other strategic opportunities. This will require a thoroughunderstanding of SE-EE’scommercial business needs and controlframeworks as well as the value of the company’sreputation and customersatisfaction.
Take ownership and accountabilityfor the negotiation of standardised and complexagreements,working closely with the Legal,Credit,Tax, and Finance functions, as well as Trading,Operations, and Business Development,tosecuretermsthatmaximisevalue,mitigatecontractualexposures and minimise profitleakage.
Work with cross-functionalteams looking tomakeprocessimprovementsthatincreaseefficiency and minimize risksacrossSE-EE.Manage the implementation of newprocesses within the Contractsteam.
Support the SE-EEtrading business and Contractsteamthrough advice and, whererequired,interventiontoensurecompliance with the Shell ControlFramework including SOXcontrols, CARM and MOA.
Act as a gatekeeperforsetting up contracts in tradecapturesystems.
Maintainaccuraterecords of agreements in negotiation and ensureexecutedagreementsarestored in accordance with GroupRecordsManagementPolicy.

Ability toidentifyrisks and inefficiencies in existingprocesses,solveproblems and implementimprovements.
Technicalknowledge in European Gas, Power, and EnvironmentalProductscontracts(product-based MasterAgreements,BespokeContracts,StorageAgreements,NettingAgreements,Credit Support Documentation,etc.).
Strongnegotiation skills, including the ability to apply differenttechniques depending on the situation.
Knowledge of energymarketfundamentals, risk management, and regulations.
Ability tocollaborate within the team and as part of the wider organisation, openly sharing views and perspectives and encouragingotherstoshare opinions.
