
Lead Business Analyst - Crude & Products
What’s the role
As Lead Business Analyst, you will give you the opportunity to grow to become an active thought partner and solution visionary who shapes the technology demand and direction in the business community.
What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for identifying and documenting the business needs of their clients and stakeholders and helping to determine feasible solutions to meet business needs or resolve business problems.
This position has the following accountabilities:
Precisely capturing business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements, including health, safety, security, usability, data, and supportability considerations
Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options
Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement
Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle
Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to final solution
Interact with software suppliers, designers and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system and database design, and ensure that business requirements and use cases are handled
Create acceptance criteria and validate that solutions meet business needs through defining and coordinating testing
Create and present compelling business cases to justify solution value and establish approval, funding and prioritization
Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and control Business Analysis activities on projects within agreed parameters of cost, time and quality
Support Business Analysts across the programme to help ensure a consistently high level of quality
Understand and stay abreast of relevant architecture and technologies related to a business area. Research potential solutions and innovative ideas. Guide and managing interactions with technology vendors
Lead stakeholder management activities including facilitation of large design sessions
Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key business and IT stakeholders
Support longer-term business strategic goals through proposing improvements in value, cost, process, data, technology, functionality, and initiating high-level business requirements and feasibility studies to discover options and directions
Champion the development of long-term Business Analysis capability within Shell through bringing external perspectives, coaching others about BA techniques, identifying and promoting best practices, and contributing to community building
This role would also lead a team of BAs in the program and will have line management responsibilities
What you bring
Must have substantial years of experience, preferably with leadership background
Must be able to come to the Shell London office at a minimum of twice a week
Exposure to performing a Business Analysis role on a Trading platform
Proven years of experience in Gas Trading
Must be able to confidently explain different types of Commodity Trading
Preferred with in-depth knowledge of Gas Trading
Must have solid experience performing a Business Analysis role on a Trading platform and be able to talk confidently regards types of trades and their composition
Extensive Agile project experience, including educating stakeholders
Proficient in Agile frameworks and tooling (e.g., VSTS)
Strong understanding of systems engineering and data/process analysis
Knowledge of current and future technology developments
Experience in cost/benefit analysis and business case development
Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills
CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA certification preferred
