This is an exciting, fast-paced front-line leader role at the Los Angeles Lube Plant and one of the most complex Lubricants Operating Plants (LOBP) in the world, blending approximately 30 million gallons of lubricant products ranging from motor oils to industrial fluids and shipping bulk and packaged products. Requires a leader who is passionate about enabling and empowering the team to safely deliver quality products to our customers, who have made Shell the #1 Lubricants Supplier in the world for 18 years in a row!

As we continue to grow our brand, which includes Pennzoil-Quaker State, and expand beyond conventional motor oils to other industrial fluids, the Operations Supervisor is a vital part of the LALP team to assure the daily execution of the Production Plan.

What’s the role

As an Operations Supervisor, you will provide leadership daily to the shift team. Strong leadership is key to the success of the facility. You will drive continuous improvement and a learner mindset with your team and peers, as each department is highly integrated to ensure we are getting quality products out the door on time and in full to our customers, at the lowest cost.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leads consistent implementation of plant-wide policies, work processes, procedures, and practices to ensure that the site remains the Biggest and the Best lubricants plant in the Shell portfolio, is a great place to work, and meets/exceeds customer expectations through safe, sustainable, efficient operation

  • Sets the highest standards for Safety within the HSSE Management System, which are part of the site culture and Goal Zero performance, fostering compliance, intervention, and respect

  • Ensures operations are carried out in accordance with roles described in GSAP

  • Leads Continuous Improvement activities including Root Cause Analysis and carrying out Corrective and Preventive Actions

  • Manages and minimizes inventory variance and value leakage

  • Supports increased digitalization of processes for improved visibility of performance and efficiency of operations

  • Assures required competencies are in place or works with team members to develop competence

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience is required

  • Previous experience in blending, bulk loading, and packaging motor oils and/or chemicals is desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, or relevant experience is preferred

  • Strong commitment to Goal Zero and proven track record in HSSE leadership/competencies

  • Success in developing and leading teams, and proven ability to coach and develop people

  • Proven change management skills

  • Must be a strong team player

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with production targets while still motivating the team and making them feel valued

  • Experience managing a unionized workforce is desirable

The base salary range for this position is $101,000.00 - $151,000.00 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity. 

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
