
Tax Analyst - Manage Indirect Tax

What you’ll be doing
Responsible for the delivery of end-to-end Shell tax reporting and filing obligation from first time right tax account setups, to analysis, accounts reconciliation, issues resolution leading to accurate and timely submission of returns and processing of tax payments and refunds for Value-based Indirect Taxes applicable to various Shell companies in the US spanning downstream, upstream and projects & technologies operations. The scope's extensive reach supports a number of stakeholders from credit, audit, advisory,tax admin, expenditure, and the onshore business. FO tax undergoes a number of business changes with opportunities for global projects and automation. The team’s flexibility and agile behavior in responding to changes, strong sense of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement mindset and resilience delivers operational excellence and sustained value to the business are delivered.
What you bring
The Tax Compliance Analyst is responsible to deliver all assigned indirect tax compliance and admin activities which include preparation of low complex tax returns and its relevant tax payments or refunds in a timely and accurate manner and first time right tax account setups. The role includes expectations such as:
Compliance:
Complete all assigned indirect tax scope (Complex to high complex activities) in a timely and accurate manner. Effective escalation is required when necessary.
Responsible for data accumulation required for the preparation of indirect tax filings including VAT, GST, and other customer and vendor transactional taxes.
Responsible for month end close procedures, involving preparation of tax account reconciliations and preparation of journal vouchers including control checks of transactional data to identify any errors or anomalies.
Ensure all indirect tax related corrections and adjustments are entered correctly in the ERP system.
Assist with managing the Indirect Tax function to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, as well as minimize risk and exposure.
Responds to assessments and inquiries, when needed.
Admin:
Coordinates adherence to current legal & fiscal requirements relative to indirect tax
Maintain ED rates, parameters and licenses timely and accurately
Responsible for executing change requests for excise duty data within SAP
Responsible for maintaining customer and vendor indirect tax exemptions within Sabrix
Deliver timely & accurately results of assigned activities
Others:
Demonstrate leadership potential and the ability to work collaboratively with peers and management.
Support CI value delivery, tax savings, robotics, simple process and automation for process standardization
Provide MIT process advice in case of changes in system set up, close cooperation with Super users or subject matter expert in case of system issues.
Flexible in taking ad hoc assignments as needed (i.e. work transitions/migrations, back-up for medium and high complex states, project improvements, etc.)
Job Requirements
Degree in Finance/Accountancy, with at least 2 years combined business experience in Finance area and knowledge of US and/or EU and/or Asia pacific indirect taxes (VAT, custom duties, excise duties) in a diverse/global company.
Good influencing, communications/stakeholder engagement skills, both written and oral.
Experience on using major ERP systems such as SAP, JDE, OneSource and proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge of Excel required.
Attention to detail, effective analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with proven ability to meet deadlines and preform under pressure.
Demonstrate leadership potential and the ability to work collaboratively with peers and management.
Customer focused; able to build effective partnerships with internal customers and work as part of a team.
Demonstrate sound work ethics, respect, team building, and cultural sensitivity and awareness.
