Technical Specialist Offshore Structures Engineer
The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.

Provide Offshore Structures engineering support to CNNS facilities. Responsible for executing activity to maintain technical integrity of Offshore Structures in line with company and legislative requirements during operate phase. Primary focus is “Do” and “Act” part of “Plan, Do, Check, Act”.
The Operations Lead Technical Reporting will be part of the VP Technical Asset Operations (TAO) organization.
The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
Purpose & Accountabilities
Key Process requirements:
Maintenance Integrity Execution (MIE)
Integrity management (Inspection Maintenance and Repair) of fixed Offshore Structures including topsides, substructures (jackets) and foundations (piles or suction cans)
Integrity management (Inspection Maintenance and Repair) of floating Offshore Structures (FPSO’s) including topsides, hulls, moorings, fairleads, etc. and foundations
End to End Process Management
Delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes
Work closely with the Offshore Structures TA2 to provide technical assurance
In partnership with Process Managers and stakeholders, can demonstrate the advantages of structured and detailed Technical support on Pipeline integrity within their appointed sites, plants and locations or OUs.
Perform Offshore Structures Engineer role and other technical functions, with scope covering technical data and documents of the operating units, manufacturing sites, chemical plants, supply chain and distribution locations.
This role is expected to help , Facility Manager, Maintenance and Engineering Lead, Onshore Operations Lead, Topside Inspection, Materials & Corrosion Engineer, Structural engineering TA2 in implementing the standard maintenance strategy for offshore structures in various operating units across the globe.
Technical Support that enables the operating units, Sites to leverage the benefits of utilizing the Engineering Services, Technical support, maintenance strategy to the fullest extent.
No Annual budgets which you directly control but can have influence over department and production area budgets.
No direct staff management responsibility. The candidate is also expected to coach/mentor less experienced staff.
Skills & Requirements
The successful candidate should have Graduate degree in Civil Engineering or Offshore Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of Integrity management (Inspection Maintenance and Repair) of fixed and floating Offshore Structures including topsides, substructures (jackets), hulls, moorings, fairleads and foundations (piles or suction cans) with particular focus on:
Risk Assessments, Structural Assessments for substructures, hull, and appurtenances such as strength, fatigue, geotechnical assessments, Structural Steel assessments for topsides structures, Structural database (IMS) management, Weight control management
SAP knowledge beneficial
Strong aptitude for Learner Mindset
Flexibility to move quickly across changing priorities and manage multiple Projects/Programmes
Ability to independently, resourcefully, and creatively research and implement new solutions
Demonstrated professional competence and managerial skills, and proven ability to influence change across an organization and geographies, including non-operated ventures.
A good understanding of the Upstream business and how it works.
External lens and connectivity: able to understand how Shell can influence the external world and how Shell is influenced by the external world.
Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside Shell and within different cultural settings.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple functions.
