If you are a Power Operations Lead with expertise in IT, contract management, and trading operations and knowledge of the Philippines Power Market and regulatory reporting and have the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment and work productively with limited supervision, this is your chance to join Shell Philippines.

What's the role?

The Commercial Operations Lead for Shell Energy Philippines (SEPh) shall be primarily responsible for the performance of all operational obligations of SEPh under its C&I contracts and PPAs in full compliance with the requirements of the Philippines power market regulation.

The role will be based in Manila and supported by Shell Energy Asia (SEA) and functional colleagues located in Singapore and other locations, thus requiring a focused approach to integration across multiple locations. Occasional travel may be required.

Other responsibilities include:
  • S/he will proactively manage periodic obligations and react in a timely manner to event-triggered obligations.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager, SEPh, the role holder shall provide advice to the Origination team with respect to their contracts. The role holder shall identify and make recommendations for commercial risks and opportunities and identify opportunities for optimization of new and existing contracts to unlock further value.
  • S/he will maintain, and develop as required, contract master sheets, and the Konga contract obligation system. The contract holder will support and provide operational advice to the Project Manager, SEPh, when developing and implementing efficient mid- and back-office processes including identifying and selecting appropriate IT systems.
  • S/he handles transactional activity on behalf of SEPh such as meter point management, forecasting, scheduling, meter data validation, and processing, invoice creation and processing, financial reconciliations, and internal and external reporting. The work is carried out using a wide range of Trading IT Systems such as GSAP and yet to implemented the meter-to-cash system. Continuous Improvement is a core function of the team.
  • His/ her primary focus shall be on ensuring contract compliance, the role has a number of other key areas of responsibility including the management of counterparty relationships and the identification and implementation of strategies to mitigate commercial risk and create value.

What we need from you:
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in the same role
  • Fluent in English
  • Analytical and comfortable with complex datasets and IT packages, particularly MS Excel.
  • Show a keen interest in IT / digitalization. Preferably the candidate is highly IT literate with coding experience.
  • Previous trading operations experience and knowledge of the Philippines power market preferred
  • Experience in regulatory reporting for Energy in Asia
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment and work productively with limited supervision. Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills in order to recognize and solve problems quickly.
  • Recognized team player with demonstrated ability to progress work through a community as well as individually.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethos; resilience; balanced self-confidence and delivery reliability.
  • Attention to detail and to the achieving of true end-to-end operational excellence for SEPh
  • Willing to start ASAP
