What’s the role

Shell Canada Integrated Gas seeking a Terminal Operator to join their team in the Montreal – Terminal.

Accountabilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the terminal

  • Demonstrate capability to focus on the adoption of safe operating procedures

  • Perform daily inspection and routine maintenance in accordance with the terminal operating standards

  • Develop, update, and adhere to Local Operating Procedures and Checklists. 

  • Participate and support optimization of schedule for product movements from ships (, rail, pipeline and truck

  • Recognize and manage environmental and hazardous materials transportation risks in compliance to regulations

  • Use and diagnose issues with automated product movement control and inventory management systems

  • Communicate and collaborate with internal support groups and government agencies

  • Perform daily reconciliation of inventories of products and record data using distribution management systems

  • Supervise drivers loading and offloading hydrocarbons and additives products

  • Supervise contractors and maintenance services through Permit to Work with effective communications and safety leadership

  • Supervise connection/disconnection of marine hoses and mooring/unmooring activities

  • Perform rail loading/offloading including connection/disconnection, opening/closing of railcars

  • Ascend and descend large bulk storage tanks to complete sampling, level checking, gas testing, and general inspections of the tanks

  • Demonstrate capability and interest to use IT systems (desktop, tablet, smart phone) to input various data and information (eg shift logs, shift rounds, work orders), including basic troubleshooting of the systems during use

  • Understand and monitor product quality parameters against criteria and liaise with internal and external resources to ensure trouble-free operations and maximize the reliability of the terminal

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • College degree or Attestation of Collegial Studies in Chemical Process Engineering, Mechanical, Civil or any other related field

  • At least 5 years relevant experience is preferred

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both French and English

  • Proficient in computer skills, including the use of basic Microsoft Office applications

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including rotating shifts and 12-hour schedules, as well as overtime

  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces

  • Ability to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level
