Job Description
This RE position based in Neuquen will report to the Reservoir Optimization Team Lead and is responsible for reservoir engineering support to Shell-operated ventures Argentina assets (Sierras Blancas, Cruz de Lorena, Coiron Amargo sur Oeste & Bajada de Añelo). The Reservoir Engineer is expected to closely work and proactively interface with the New Oil, Front End, Planning & Integration and Commercial teams.
Accountabilities
- Work on an integrated team with Operations staff, production engineers, facilities engineers, and reservoir engineers to maintain maximized field production
- Do surveillance on 100+ Vaca Muerta Shell-operated developed wells and multiple water disposal wells.
- Apply analytical techniques to understand well/reservoir performance (DCA, Rate-transient analysis, Hall Plots, material balance, etc.) for a variety of fluid types.
- Make recommendations on well optimization, e.g. choke management, artificial lift install/optimization, addressing subsurface/surface impairments, sand management, etc.
- Proactively contribute to the evergreen Production System Optimization (PSO) which includes annual review of WRFM Plan, update of surveillance activities, data acquisition, artificial lift recommendations, New Well choke policy.
- Build and maintain field integrated production system model (IPSM), update well & facility operating envelopes, make recommendations on New Well put-on-production (POP) schedule to maintain drill-to-fill balance.
- Analyze and deliver short- and medium-term production forecasts. Perform production reconciliation.
- Monitor, analyze and contribute to the management of frac-prod wells inter wellbore communication.
Proficiency
- BS, MS in Petroleum Engineering or other engineering/science degree but substitute with hands-on reservoir engineering experience with focus on unconventional plays (5+ years).
- Native Spanish speaker with strong proficiency in English and ability to work with an international network team (Houston, Calgary, Buenos Aires, Neuquen)
- Experience with Decline Curve Analysis (DCA) for Unconventional plays, well surveillance methods, inflow-outflow relations, rod pump, Plunger Lift & Gas lift technology.
- Unconventional/shale well subsurface experience (hydraulically fractured wells, production mechanism, decline characteristics)
- Skills in integrated production system modeling
- High capacity individual, with ability to learn quickly on the job. Be mentored by senior production engineer and senior reservoir engineer.
- Strong collaboration and persuasion skills.
- Able to operate at a proficiency level of “can do with limited help”
- Inquisitive nature, examining both Shell and external ways of working to implement best practices for field development and/or surveillance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with the full range of multi-discipline technical staff.
