What’s the role?

Facility Engineer is about understanding and maintaining our equipment as effectively and efficiently as possible, making sure it performs as intended. The Reliability discipline covers the development of Reliability strategies and the planning, coordination and execution of Reliability activities. These activities relate to equipment strategy optimisation, defect elimination and Reliability improvement, root cause and causal learning analysis, and Integrity Assurance, thereby reducing facility deferment and Integrity incidents.

As a member of the Midstream Facility Engineering team, your role is to ensure the integrity and reliability of Midstream’s assets.  The Facility Engineering team is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of crude oil, chemical and product transportation assets operated by Shell Midstream.  The team is passionate about protecting Shell Midstream’s License to Operate and Reputation by preventing HSSE incidents and reliably meeting our customer’s needs.

As an Offshore Electrical Facility Engineer, you will be accountable to provide support to meet the needs of the assets and stakeholders.  The asset base includes:

Offshore Gulf of America Crude Oil and Natural Gas Pipelines and Platforms. (Requires ability to acquire T-HUET certification, TWIC, and other applicable requirements.)

What you’ll be doing

  • Run and Maintain support for electrical and automation equipment, including emergency support.
  • Offers technical support and act as a troubleshooting resource for electrical and automation equipment throughout the organization.
  • Supports annual review and improvement efforts of equipment maintenance and current practices.
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement activities to improve business profitability and efficiency.

Your ability to effectively communicate priorities, level of engagement, and results to stakeholders will be a key enabler of success.  Beyond that, we hope to see as many of the following in your professional history:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree
  • 3+ years’ professional experience with knowledge of applicable Industry codes
  • Application of technical knowledge of control systems and network design
  • Application of a technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems
  • Familiarity with electrical industry standards
  • Awareness level knowledge of PLCs, specifically Allen Bradley Controllogix PLC systems, panel views, RSVIEW, Omni Flow computers, MOVs, control valves, motors, electrical systems, 13.8kV switchgear down to 24V volt dc instrumentation, tank gauging systems, communication, motor controls, SCADA equipment, sampling equipment, fire and gas detection systems, generators, transformers, and in the use of applicable electrical test equipment
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $151,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
