
Lab Technician
What’s the role
In this position, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests on petroleum products and refining process streams to ensure process control, product specifications, and compliance parameters. You will conduct analysis of finished products to ascertain adherence to manufacturing specifications. In addition, you will need to document all tests performed both in hard copy as well as in the electronic management system. You will also be expected to perform routine maintenance on testing equipment and complete housekeeping duties.

What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Have prior full time analytical lab technician experience, preferably in a refinery or petrochemical lab environment
Minimum of 1 year of experience
You must have an experience in refinery/ chemical testing methods and equipment including - Distillation apparatus, RVP analysis, Flash Equipment, Ion and Gas Chromatography techniques, X-ray techniques, GC/MS, ICP, Nitrogen and Sulfur analysis, pH, Titration, UV and Spectrophotometers is preferred
You should be familiar with NPDES water testing protocol
Proficiency in basic chemical lab skills preferred (e.g., weighing, pipetting, titrating, dilutions, metric system, safe lab practices, units’ conversion, read and understand lab methods, etc.)
Proficiency in basic math skills preferred (e.g., rounding numbers, fractions, percentages, simple statistics, use of hand calculator)
Proficiency in basic chemistry preferred (e.g., pH, acid-base reactions, operating principles of simple lab equipment, recognize chemical formulas)
Experience with personal or laboratory computers preferred (used frequently as a work tool for school or job, data entry, spreadsheet calculations)
Minimum of High School diploma or GED
Bachelor’s degree in science in Chemistry or related sciences preferred
You must have at least 18 years old
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation
Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information

Willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (including weekends, holidays and overtime)
Willing to provide duty coverage per schedule
Willing to respond to unscheduled callouts
Have ability to read and understand analytical procedures / methods
Willing to work in a diverse, multi-skilled, achievement oriented, team-based environment
Be able to use computers in a work environment
Offers contingent on ability to pass the written qualification exam
A working knowledge of laboratory information management systems and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) is necessary
Working overtime, after-hours callouts, weekends, holidays required

The rate for this position is $45.22. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
