Shell Asset Management Company B.V. (SAMCo) in Rijswijk is the dedicated in-house asset manager for the Royal Dutch Shell plc group sponsored pension funds and insurance companies and currently manages around USD 100 billion of assets for its clients. SAMCo is supervised by the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). The company is internationally oriented with clients in 10 different countries and approximately 175 employees. SAMCo’s objective is to provide high quality and cost-effective investment advice and asset management services to its clients. On behalf of its clients, SAMCo invests in fixed income, equities, and alternative investment categories such as private equity funds and other investment funds, all over the world. Specific parts of the activities are also outsourced to external managers. Continuous change in financial markets and regulations as well as the diversity of SAMCo’s clients and the products they invest in, make it a professionally challenging environment to work in.
We are currently looking to recruit three (3) Accountants on senior to medior levels to join the Accounting team. The team is responsible for performing the accounting for SAMCo’s clients and for SAMCo itself. The Accountants will report to the Head of Accounting and will be involved in all accounting activities.
What’s the role?
As an accountant, we’ll entrust you to:
Prepare the data for the annual reports for several clients and act as focal point for the clients.
Prepare the annual reports for SAMCo's investment funds.
Perform periodic accounting controls.
Prepare reports for regulators like DNB.
Monitor SAMCo's budget and support in improving the current process
Analyse and implement changes in the accounting system required as part of projects or new types of investment.
Answer questions from external auditors, clients or SAMCo’s management independently.
What we need from you
As many of the following as possible:
A Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or equivalent.
Proven accounting working experience, preferably in the financial industry.
Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting.
Advanced MS Office Excel skills
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably an understanding of Dutch.
The mentality of a hands-on team player, combined with good analytical skills to be able to analyse and resolve problems.
An eye for detail and high level of accuracy.
Pro-active attitude with the ability to identify and solve accounting problems
Preferably knowledge about financial markets and asset management.
