Our Retail sites not only have to provide customers with the best fuels, but they must cater to customers increasing demands for convenience shopping like Food and Drinks.  Did you know that our Shell sites in BeNeLux sell approximately 2 million units of Ice Cream in one year? Or that we sell around 100.000 kg of Chocolate, which is around 4 million items of Chocolate?

What’s the role?

As Category Manager for Snacks, you are responsible for establishing, implementing and driving the Snacks strategy in the Benelux. You will continuously focus on delivering additional value from your category strategies, including pricing, promotions, product mix and positions. The Snacks category is a Core category on all our sites in the BeNeLux cluster and is therefore an important margin generator for the Retail shops. The category is characterized by its large number of products (more than 1000 items) and suppliers (more than 60 suppliers). In order to maximize the value from the Snacks Category, you negotiate the best deals with leading FMCG suppliers (eg. Mars, Unilever, Nestlé, etc.). In this role, you are responsible to deliver category income to Shell Retail and our ~250 sites in the Benelux through our company-owned franchisers.

You are responsible for one of the key categories within CR (Convenience Retail): Snacks. With an increasing demand for Healthy Options and Indulgence items, the traditional Snacks category is converting towards a more functional offer. This allows you to really make an impact on the perception of our guests towards sustainability.

You will be responsible for the entire P&L of these categories from sell-in to sell-out on our Retail sites, and from daily operational product management to strategic category visions.

What we need from You

  • Tactical/strategic thinking: Building category plans for Snacks in the Benelux

  • Operational execution and product management

  • Project management to drive category pilots and innovations

  • Strong account management. Manage around 60 supplier relationships

  • Drive innovation and challenge current Snacking offer to develop new business models and partnerships with Snacks suppliers

  • Teamwork. Work together closely with the Format team, Supply Chain team, Operations team, Marketing and Network team in developing new strategies, initiatives and investments for the Snacks category

  • Experience in 4p’s, eg promotions, pricing, planogramming and placements

  • Stakeholder management internally and externally e.g. responsible for alignment with Sales & Operations organization, including Shell franchisers

  • Resilient under pressure, manage ad-hoc and urgent matters whilst delivering long-term plans
