
Deal Structurer-Power and Gas
What’s the role
This role is a power and gas structurer position accountable for managing the valuation, risk management and structuring of complex transactions. In addition, this role is accountable for guiding efforts to make continuous improvements and adjustments to approaches for developing, valuing, marking, and managing transactions as technologies, markets and regulations continue to evolve through the energy transition.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage the valuation, risk assessment, and structuring of large complex power, natural gas, and renewable energy deals.
- Develop models using existing and new technologies to address high dimensionality problems
- Partner with Trading, Origination, Fundamentals, Finance, Market Risk, and Credit to develop, value, price, mark and manage the evolving menu of products and services
- Work to find the “best deal” by suggesting appropriate commercial modifications to deal structures
- Suggest improvements and changes needed to stay ahead of the changing energy marketplace
What you bring
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, or similar field and/or equivalent relevant experience
- 5 or more years working in Deal Structuring experience in a power and gas trading environment
- Demonstrated understanding of power and gas derivative valuation
- Ability to build complex valuation models in Excel, Python, R, or Matlab
- Uses advanced quantitative methods to evaluate long-term risks in structured energy transactions including nodal risks, ancillary services, etc.
- Experience in fundamental drivers of power and gas markets
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $174,000 - $262,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
