What’s the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the trading desk, supporting the team on market risk management, credit process related, deal entry, and P&L sign off. This role will be the Focal Point for Shell Energy Brazil’s Trading Desk control.

What you’ll be doing

As a Trading Desk Analyst, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Adhering to Shell’s Business Principles, market Regulations, and contributing to and maintaining a culture of Compliance

  • To ensure all the trading transactions and exposures are represented accordingly in the Shell’s systems

  • To ensure all the trading transactions are in accordance with pre-established risk parameters

  • Collaboration with gas and power trading, operations, and sales/origination teams

  • Contributing to and ensuring alignment with Shell Energy Brazil and Shell Energy Americas’ overall goals and strategies

  • Interacting with other support functions in the organization such as Finance, Credit, Legal, Compliance, and Market Risk

  • Knowledge of the developing Brazilian Domestic Gas market and an understanding of the fundamentals that drive it

  • Knowledge of the Brazilian Power Trading market and an understanding of the fundamentals that drive it

  • Collaboration with the financial trade group to understand exposure management of long dated derivative exposures that the trade book will carry

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Engineering, Economics, Business, Finance, or related field

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience with market risk at a trading business (power trading), banking, or in any work-related field

  • Fluency in both Portuguese and English

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, understanding of financial modeling

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Respect for colleagues, and the ability to work as a part of a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

  • Extensive spreadsheet management skills (Excel, Power BI)

  • Database management and programming skills are a benefit to this role
