Job Description

Purpose

Opportunity to join as a Control Room Operator - Process for the first Deepwater Sour Gas development in Sarawak, the Rosmari and Marjoram Onshore Gas Plant (OGP) to deliver Safe production of hydrocarbon within Operating Envelope, business targets, and regulatory compliances,including: -  

1. Manage processes for high H2S acid gas removal, stabilization, sulphurrecovery/palletization, and MEG system for export of sweet gas and sulphur to customers 

2. Manage utilities systems including steam system, boilers, service water, instrument airs, nitrogen, and other utilities system for R&M OGP 

Skills and Requirements

Minimum 

1. 6 years’ relevant Control Room Operator Process technical experiences in Sour Gas Plant or Integrated Refinery/Petrochemicalplant

2. Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) or/and Amine Treating Experiences

3. Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysiacommunication/writing skills, with ability to interface well with various stakeholders

4. Good leadership, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills 

Preferred

1. BTEC Certification or equivalent qualification 

2. Technical/Engineering Diploma or Degree of CGPA > 2.5

3. Sarawakian / Sabahan or PR

4. Steam Boiler Engineer/Operator Grade 1/2 or Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Engineers/Drivers

Dimensions

The incumbent will be based in the current working/base location at the early stage of the project and will progressively be relocated to Bintulu R&M OGP Office to support the Commissioning, Start Up, and Operations of OGP.

1. Reports to R&M Production Delivery Manager PU2.

2. Staff Numbers: Direct reports – 0, Indirect reports – 0, Contractors – 5

3. The incumbent will work on 12 hours shift cycle typically 4 or 8 consecutive day or night shifts, followed by 4 or 8 consecutive days off rotation cycle, subjected to requirements

4. R&M OGP produces 800 MMscf/d of Gas and 17kboe/d of NGL withhigh Annual Operating Expenditure (OPEX). Gas production is expected to start in 2026 and will be piped to the neighboring Petronas Liquified Natural Gas complex. R&M fields are situated approximately 220km off the coast of Bintulu. The project comprises a remotely operated offshore platform and onshore gas plant, with infrastructure that includes one of the longest sour wet gas offshore pipelines in the world stretching more than 200km. R&M will be mainly powered by renewable energy; utilizing solar power offshore and hydroelectric power onshore.

Accountabilities

R&M OGP HSSE Management System

Relentless pursuit of Goal zero target with no harm to people (Personal Safety) and no Leak (Process Safety)

Carry out duties as site emergency response CRO during drills and emergencies.

Carry out audits of worksites including pro active safe behavior and document findings

Completes Front-Line Barrier Management competence requirements in time for start-up of the R&M facility.

Technical

Able to lead/coach Process Technicians team to manage processes for high H2S acid gas removal, stabilization, sulphurrecovery/palletization, and MEG system for export of sweet gas and sulphur to customers. Roles includes managing utilities systems including steam system, boilers, service water, instrument airs, nitrogen, and other utilities system for R&M OGP. Tasks includes but not limited to:-

  • Work and interact with Process Team Leads, OR&A Engineers and Vendors to assist in detailed design, commissioning and operations for the systems including sub systems and interfaces to gain technical and operational knowledge of the plant and equipment

  • Monitor, track and maintain the operations of the plant within their operating envelopes

  • Identify, troubleshoots and normalize any abnormal operating and equipment conditions effectively and efficiently to minimize safety risks, economic losses including emissions control equipment and adjust it to meet State and Federal allowable limits

  • To identify, analyze and recommend changes to improve overall plant reliability, performance and output

  • Knowledge of generating unit operation, engineering, or maintenance practices

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, procedures and technical manuals

  • Knowledge of DCS and PLC ladder logic

  • Running trends to proactively diagnose potential issues

  • Knowledge of principles and operations of plant equipment

  • Knowledge of P&ID’s, single line diagrams, schematics and logic’s

  • Provide support for follow up on audits closure items and deviation control

  • Provide input into the weekly scheduling meeting, ensuring Process OT are able to carry out activities

  • Control and monitor downtime and turnaround of Critical Process Equipment service/repairs and spares diligently

As and when there are business requirements, staff can be assigned more safety critical roles and technical tasks
