
Rail Car Loader/Unloader
What’s the role
Shell is seeking a Rail Car Loader/Unloader (also known internally as Finished Product Handler) to join their team at the Sarnia Refinery.
The role involves loading various site products onto trucks or railcars from designated shipping tanks, as directed by the Scheduling/Operations Department. Team members are responsible for generating loading documentation, which is then returned to the Shipping desk upon completion. The required shipping documentation is finalized, and the Bill of Lading (B/L) is created and distributed to the customer and relevant files. Team members are responsible for all the rail movement onsite including daily shunting tasks and coordinating rail car inspections.
Accountabilities:
Manage all operational duties related to the receipt, shipping of rail cars/trucks and products
Maintain compliance with company procedures and government regulations related to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) and various agency permits
Manage the handling, receiving, sampling, testing, transferring, shipping, and storage of petroleum products transported by rail cars and trucks
Perform physical loading and unloading of railcars and trucks, along with managing railcar movements on-site
Provide general maintenance and housekeeping in support of terminal assets to ensure a safe, secure, and environmentally sound operation
Ability to solve loading rack malfunctions and other terminal systems
Conduct quality assurance sampling and testing of products
Accountable for compliance with company and regulatory procedures in the execution of the job such as:
Compliance with the HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) and Shell Performance Framework
Compliance with the Global Terminal Operations Manual
Compliance with the Distribution Measurement Manual
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
High School Diploma
Experience in handling product shipping and generating Bills of Lading
Related experience in Product movement at an ISO-9001 certified site is preferred
Experience in Rail Car shunting and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification would be preferred
Knowledge of computer systems SAP, Top Tech, CN, CSX EDI billing, Accuload would be considered is a plus
Proficient in the fundamental use of Microsoft Word and Excel
