Aster Chemicals and Energy (ACE) Commercial Operations team is responsible for shipping base and intermediate chemical products on chemical product tankers to various destinations per year.
The Chartering Operations team will report to the Chartering Operations Manager and be responsible for all shipping operational activities of selected trade lanes in Asia, India, Intercontinental and Middle East. The Chartering Operations team will ensure operational excellence for all shipping operational activities, closely supporting the Chartering Managers to ship our products safely and in the most cost-efficient manner.
What's the role?
The Chartering Operations team is expected to provide and deliver:
Effective HSSE Leadership: Understand and proactively identify the HSSE risks within shipping operations, working with the Marine Technical Advisers and other stakeholders to minimise risks and ensure compliance with procedures. Ensure that HSSE is an integral part of all work undertaken in day-to-day operations. Contribute to building a culture where chronic unease conversations occur naturally, and learner’s mindset is applied at every opportunity.
Deliver Operational Excellence:Ensure strict adherence to charterparty requirements, company procedures, and all operational information between vessels, brokers, Charterers, and agents. Deliver accurate and timely processing of financial invoices, within stipulated contract timelines. Possess in-depth knowledge of charterparty and Shellvoy6 clauses to effectively mitigate any operational issues and minimize potential demurrage exposure.
Continuous Improvement (CI): Contribute to CI initiatives by identifying workflow improvements to optimize resource utilization and efficiency. Staying informed about industry trends and best practices. Understanding technical requirements in the PQ/PS/MTA space, shipping regulations, charter terms and market dynamics and identifying areas of improvements
Claims Handling and Dispute Management: Addressing any disputes, damages, or incidents during the charter, resolving issues promptly and fairly. Contribute to loss prevention efforts and risk mitigation strategies. Provide support in managing insurance coverage and assist in liaising with underwriters and claim handlers. Support in handling disputes with Charterers and utilize the guidance of defence clubs as appropriate. Assist in the negotiation and timely response to claims and problem-solving efforts.
What we need from you
Prior experience in any of the following or related areas: shipping, logistics, supply or trading operations, is preferred.
Understanding shipping economics, charter parties, demurrage clauses, shipping ops processes or HSSE standards is advantageous.
Ability to operate in situations where complete information is not readily available.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Demonstrable evidence of being a strong team player with outstanding collaborative skills.
Hands-on approach to resolve operational issues which could happen 24/7.

(“CAPGC”), a joint venture company between Chandra Asri Capital Pte. Ltd. and Glencore Asian Holdings Pte. Ltd (the “Transaction”). The Transaction will transfer all of Shell’s interest in the SECP Business to CAPGC. Subject to regulatory approval, the Transaction is expected to complete by the end of 2024. This position is part of the in-scope SECP Business and while the employing entity may initially be SGSC, a successful candidate’s employment contract will subsequently be transferred to Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte. Ltd. (“ACE”) to facilitate the Transaction. From completion of the Transaction, ACE will cease to be a Shell group company and will be owned by CAPGC.
Specific details relating to the impact on relevant employees supporting the SECP Business and timeline relating to the change of employing entities, will be shared with the successful candidate.
