Where you fit in

As a Utilities Technologist, you will be providing process technological support and assurance to her/his assigned units, support operational excellence from technology lens, and be the technological conscience for her/his unit(s), working with PUDT to ensure the unit is operated optimally within the operating window and works on systematic improvement.

What’s the role?

Your accountabilities as a Utilities Technologist also includes:

  • Supports operational excellence:
    • Monitor unit performance and actively contribute in PU cadence touchpoints (eg Unit console meeting and Daily Morning Meetings)
    • Perform proactive technological (performance) monitoring timely.
    • Perform second-line, more complex troubleshooting RCA's and investigations and delivering simple fit-for-purpose solutions.
    • Monitor, review and update unit basic data performance
    • Monitor, review and improve unit energy efficiency and environmental performance
    • Monitor, review and report out unit performance including monthly energy and GHG  reporting where necessary as per the organisation or statutory reporting requirements for the unit under care
    • Support process control/APC strategies to sustain optimal operations.
    • Provide technology support for preparation of (e,g, right scope) and executing turnarounds.
    • Support AMS processes e.g. MTO, ESP
  • Be technological conscience:
    • Initiate MOC when required.
    • Understand, monitor, and document the technological operating windows of units.
    • Provide technology assurance on operational procedures.
    • Support product quality assurance.
    • Provide technology assurance on crude acceptance as needed from utility impact
    • Continuous improvement mindset particularly in  the area  of energy efficiency improvement
  • Work on systematic improvement:
    • Identify and realize opportunities for improvement of the process in HSSE, capacity, yields, margin, energy, costs and quality to have the Right Molecule in Right Place all the time
    • Define and support development of projects and plant changes.
    • Prepare, support and evaluate testruns.
    • Fit-for-purpose networking with P&T and sister M-sites to share and keep abreast of best practices
    • Demonstrate strong learner mindset and commits to be digitally literate to drive value creation through digitalisation

What we need from you

To be a successful Utilities Technologist, you will have the following:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering.  Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background can be considered if you have relevant work experience in refinery/petrochemical utility systems.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience
  • Relevant work experience in Refinery, Chemical plants, Pharma plants is an advantage
  • Knowledge in utility systems and general process engineering skills
  • Strong process safety orientation knowledge
  • Good English communication skills

(“CAPGC”), a joint venture company between Chandra Asri Capital Pte. Ltd. and Glencore Asian Holdings Pte. Ltd (the “Transaction”). The Transaction will transfer all of Shell’s interest in the SECP Business to CAPGC. This position is part of the in-scope SECP Business and while the employing entity may initially be SGOP, a successful candidate’s employment contract will subsequently be transferred to Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte. Ltd. (“ACE”) to facilitate the Transaction. From completion of the Transaction, ACE will cease to be a Shell group company and will be owned by CAPGC.

Specific details relating to the impact on relevant employees supporting the SECP Business and timeline relating to the change of employing entities, will be shared with the successful candidate.
