What’s the role

Join us as an Associate Software Engineer in the NextGen ERP Programme, guiding Shell's transition to SAP S/4 and Master Data Management over the next decade. This initiative is a unique chance to revolutionize and automate our transactional processes. By unifying systems and data across Upstream/IG and Downstream sectors, we'll enhance reliability, productivity, and safety. Simplify Procurement, Finance, and Logistics with market-standard, end-to-end solutions in SAP S/4.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work within Shell IDE standard procedures and work instructions, and under the guidance of Sr. Technical Delivery Lead S4/BTP, BTP SMEs, and BTP Design Authority.

  • Work closely with Business Analysts, BTP Delivery Leads and Senior Developers to translate business requirements into Application design and developments against BTP & S4 Extensibility Design standards.

  • Assist in the design, coding, and modification of technical solutions to meet project requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing software to improve functionality and performance.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance skills and contribute to innovative solutions.

  • Act as a key collector of product gaps and improvement opportunities, appropriately document these items and flow these opportunities along with a value case to the appropriate route with SAP (Oil & Gas Consortium, CIO office, Architecture, other SAP engagement bodies as appropriate).

What you bring

  • 2-5 years of total experience in the IT industry

  • At least 1 year of experience in SAP BTP extension development

  • Hands-on experience with SAP Fiori, UI5 and SAP HANA cloud technologies and various SAP S4 HANA extensibility patterns

  • Proficiency in developing Fiori Application (Free-style and Fiori Elements) based on the requirements

  • Experience in building Adaptation projects and Fiori Element Extensions

  • Familiarity with developing applications and services in Cloud Foundry using Cloud Application Programming Model (CAPM) is a plus

  • Good understanding of BTP application routing, authentication and security aspects

  • Experience in configuring the Build Workzone for the developed applications

  • Exposure to SAP Build and SAP Business Process Automation

  • Knowledge to work with BTP CI/CD and GitHub

  • A commercial mindset coupled with a strong interest in the business

  • Ability to shape and translate a technology enabled vison into delivery of successful business outcomes

  • Gravitas and excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to engage and influence senior Finance stakeholders.

  • Ability to build strong collaborative partnerships with process owners and senior stakeholders

  • Active participation in a high performing IT natural teams aligned around driving greater business value 

  • Resilience, courage and the willingness to challenge and manage business expectations

  • Experience in developing business cases and in managing IT budgets through the IT demand management and planning process

  • Good understanding and experience of the various Agile frameworks
