What’s the role

As a Business Analyst – Central Finance, you’ll be responsible for identifying and documenting business requirements, with a strong focus on the S/4HANA Finance (FI) domain. You’ll help design and deliver solutions that support Shell’s financial operations and strategic goals. You’ll be part of Shell’s IT Engineering team, which delivers business value through top-tier technical and consulting expertise. Here, you’ll work on impactful IT projects across the value chain, supported by structured career paths, continuous learning, and opportunities to grow both technically and professionally.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work on a portfolio of SAP Finance & Tax applications by gathering business requirements and delivering both large and small projects and enhancements in the Finance ERP portfolio

  • Work closely with IT Managers and the Business to ensure that new requirements are understood and captured

  • Drive and participate in requirements gathering workshops

  • Assess and model business processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Translate business requirements into solutions and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts

  • Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle

  • Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to final solution

  • Interact with software engineers, designers and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system and database design, and ensure that business requirements and use cases are fully accommodated

  • Create acceptance criteria for test scenarios and participate in the appropriate test cycles in order to validate that solutions meet business needs

  • Define and maintain standards, methodologies, tools and knowledge repositories along with contributing to functional excellence in terms of standards, methods and tools.

  • Ensure lessons learned from market service implementations are identified, applied and acted upon

  • Drive continuous improvement, life cycle/portfolio management, and stable operations in all IT applications that underpin business-critical processes with end-to-end ownership of the portfolio capability

What you bring

  • 9+ years of hands-on project experience in SAP FI, Asset Accounting, and SAP S4 Central Finance

  • Deep expertise in core finance modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost and Profit Centre Accounting, cross-company configuration and interfaces

  • Understanding of inter-group billing processes, including resource-related billing and invoice list functionality

  • Solid grasp of financial processes especially period-end closing activities

  • Familiarity with SAP best practices and integration with modules like MM, SD, and PS

  • Knowledge of IT project delivery methodologies, including Agile, and awareness of IT security and compliance standards

  • Excellent communication skills in English—both written and verbal

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with senior stakeholders

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality solutions
