In this dynamic role you'll manage spatial data, apply advanced geospatial analytics, web-mapping, integration, and quantitative tools to uncover new insights and opportunities. You'll collaborate with local project teams and a global Geomatics community to provide a comprehensive range of Geomatics services across diverse projects, including development, operations, deformation monitoring, exploration, environmental management, and engineering.
What's the role?
Key responsibilities:
- Mapping & Analysis: Provide mapping, spatial analysis, geospatial data management, GIS coaching and technical assurance for Shell’s activities in Argentina.
- Web Mapping Excellence: Deliver and enhance web mapping services and products using ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online.
- Survey Project Leadership: Deliver onshore survey projects with focus on geodetic and remote sensing applications.
- Data-Driven Solutions: Promote and apply geospatial data, tools and spatial analysis techniques within project teams, linking these services to customer challenges to improve business outcomes.
- Data Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, accurate, and current geospatial data with proper metadata and published via agreed delivery mechanisms.
- Deliver efficient and innovative solutions by thoroughly understanding business needs, priorities, and the value of Geomatics.
- Automation & Efficiency: Design and deploy scripts for workflow simplification and automation and improve workflows for spatial data exchanges with other software applications.
- Standards & Compliance: Promote and apply Shell’s Mapping standards.
- Collaborative Support: Establish and maintain strong collaboration with Geomatics staff in Houston and globally.
- Promote and share the power and possibilities of Geo-Information (GI) and GIS technologies with peers and customer groups.
What We Need from You
Skills & Requirements
- Advanced written and verbal English proficiency
- University undergraduate or Masters degree in Geomatics, GIS, Surveying or related geoscience technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in GIS and/or mapping in Oil and Gas industry.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal/Online, and geospatial data management.
- Knowledge of geodesy, coordinate integrity and geodetic standards.
Beneficial Qualifications
Experience with:
- Project management and onshore survey operations,
- Remote sensing
- Workflow automation process tools: SQL, FME, Python
- ESRI mobile solutions
- AutoCAD
- Database standards and industry data models (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Land Survey Data Model) and Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) requirements.
