Geospatial Analyst
The GeospatialAnalyst role is to use geo-data creatively to solve business challenges, uncovering new opportunities for Shell Upstream. In this role you will manage spatial data, apply advanced geo-spatial analytics, web-mapping, integration and quantitative tools and offer insights from a wide range of spatial datasets. These services are provided to a diverse portfolio of projects, including development, deformation monitoring, exploration, environmental management and engineering.
Accountabilities
Ensure Geo-information contained in the project and company-wide data stores is high quality, accurate, current and attributed with proper metadata, published to the proper data stores and geodetically sound
Provide optimum Geospatial services for project teams and corporate Geo-Information.
Create and manage GIS projects in-line with the GIS Project Workflow guidelines
Improve workflows dealing with spatial data exchanges with external software applications.
Create scripts, tools, or models where appropriate to enhance the data flow and analysis.
Provide mapping and Geo-Information data management and analysis support for project activities including GIS coaching to project team members and technical support colleagues.
Provide Geospatial services for corporate stores. This includes data loading and conditioning, metadata population and final publishing via the agreed delivery mechanisms.
Ensure the geospatial tools are used for a project team to analyze spatial relationships between data. Design, deploy, and support scripts and models for workflow simplification and automation for a project team.
Support and improve web mapping services and promote best practices in the use of ArcGIS Server and Portal.
Understand, promote and apply Shell’s Mapping standards.
Requirements
Advancedwritten and verbal English level is required
Bachelors degree (BSc) or Masters degree (MSc) in a directly-relatedGeospatial Science or related geoscience technical discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in GIS and/or mapping in Oil and Gas industry.
Ability to apply practices and techniques in GIS, Geo-Information management, web-basedmappingand related technologies.
Extensive experience in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Portal/Onlineis required.
Knowledge of geodesy, coordinate integrity challenges and the ability to implement geodetic standards is required
SQL, FME, Python and AutoCAD experience would be beneficial
Experience with remote sensing platforms and technology (i.e. Satellite imagery and/or UAV/Drone data capture) would be beneficial
Experience with ESRI mobile mapping solutions would be beneficial
Knowledge of database standards, processes and industry data models (i.e. - International association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Land Survey Data Model) would be beneficial
Knowledge of onshore surveyoperations, Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)requirements and project management is beneficial.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to recommend solutions for the hardware, software, and workflows necessary to deliver timely solutions for the business.
An understanding of the upstream Exploration and Production (E&P) business and where GIS and Geo-Information impactthe business decisions.
