What is the Role?
The incumbent will be responsible for understanding, managing, and implementing Transport Safety Standard, Maritime Safety Standards to support the group's shipping business requirements. This role requires familiarity with international legislation (e.g., MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM) and industry standards, codes, and guidelines (e.g., ISGOTT, ICS, IBC).
Act as an accountable decision maker in the vetting process.
Maintain clear accountability over safety and performance for assets.
Leadi Management Reviews (TMSA3 audits)
Make decisions regarding the clearance process.
Provide leadership support to others in the SBO
Carry out SIRE 2.0 editorial review
Carry out SIRE 2.0 Inspections
Incident Responder Support for Emergency Response Team
Contract Management holder
Long Term Time Charter focal point
Key responsibilities include applying Shell's established vetting criteria for vessels nominated for Shell group business. The successful candidate will receive training to become OCIMF accredited inspector and maintain the competence needed to conduct ship inspections.
This position requires the ability to join an out-of-office hours duty roster and travel internationally.
What We Need from You?
We are eager to hear from candidates who hold or have held an STCW II/2 (Deck or Engineering) CoC issued by a recognized flag.
You should have a solid understanding of relevant international standards, Classification Society rules, and regulations.
We have a strong preference for candidates with previous experience in HSSE and maritime vetting.
Experience as Master or Chief Engineer Officer on ocean going tankers (LNG, LPG, Chemical, Crude, Products)
At least 5* years sea time as an officer, or as Chief Officer or 2nd Engineer with >4 years Shore based experience.
