What’s the role

In the Downstream Manufacturing Strategy for TA excellence Shell maintains the role of the management entity for the planning, preparation and execution of all TAs. Critical to this strategy is a Turnaround Specialist (Planner/Scheduler/Field Coordinator) position that fully understands and manages the efforts of all planning and scheduling deliverables for a single block on a multi-block T/A Event.

Accountabilities:

As a Turnaround Planner, you will be responsible for the following duties below.

  • Responsible for the safety performance of assigned personnel on a T/A sub-block during execution

  • Field verifies work described in Turnaround Work Letter and develops detailed work scope activities, with craft type and estimated hours, and plans

  • Assesses job to understand the optimal plan to achieve turnaround premises including low cost and safety performance

  • Ensures environmental plan (waste disposal, lead/asbestos abatement, frac tanks, vac trucks, etc.) is developed

  • Creates bill of material for assigned work, requisitions material, and ensures all material is delivered before feed out of unit

  • Assembles work packages with detailed information for planning and execution. Identification, review, and escalation of high-risk activities

  • Prepares logistics plan for assigned area

  • Ensures compliance to plant orders, policies and procedures including, but not limited to Downstream One, MOC, quality, and addenda processes

  • Loads schedule logic to efficiently execute scope of work and resource levels the plan

  • Works with Lead Scheduler to optimize the master schedule

  • Completes estimate of Direct Field Labor hours, overheads, materials, and equipment for assigned area

  • Communicates key issues and risks to the T/A Block Coordinator and Event Manager

  • Functions as a Field Coordinator during execution for at least part of the T/A Block area

  • Responsible for update of the schedule for assigned work activities (scheduler will input during execution)

  • Is the Quality Captain for his / her area of responsibility, responsible for all aspects of quality – material, flange tightness, completion status

  • Management of turnaround files and records

  • Provides a critique of turnaround activities after completion of project, participates in Lessons Learned and Lookback process

  • Is mindful of and continues to look for opportunities to reduce turnaround scope, and plan and execute with low-cost mindset

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • You must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in executing turnarounds on in planning turnaround work

  • Must have 1 year experience and intermediate skill level in scheduling using Primavera

  • Computer skills - PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Primavera, Visio, GSAP / SAP

  • Supervisory skills in managing crafts 

  • Written and verbal communication skills 

  • Customer focus (operations) 

  • Works effectively in a Team environment and build consensus

The base salary range for this position is $101,000.00 - $151,000.00 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity. 

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
