Corporate Relations Advisor - CCS
About the Opportunity:
Shell Canada is seeking a Corporate Relations Advisor, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to join their team at the Scotford Shell Energy and Chemicals Park in Fort Saskatchewan, AB or at the Bow Tower in Calgary, AB.
The Corporate Relations (CR) function connects Shell to the world and the world to Shell. Our mission is to build trust and help deliver improved business outcomes in each of our regions, bringing important insights internally while influencing the external landscape. Acting with courage, the CR team provides expert insights and delivers functional excellence for Shell. Regional Teams enhance trust with governments, communities and other stakeholders to ensure our license to operate. We identify, analyze and mitigate risk to support business value. We act as a mirror for our leaders as we represent Shell’s values. We provide advice to Country Chairs, helping them drive staff engagement and shape the external environment.
Accountabilities:
Lead and deliver ongoing relationship management, community engagement, and issue resolution with key stakeholders, Indigenous communities for CCS projects in Alberta
Build trust and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and Indigenous communities in CCS project areas
Conduct stakeholder and Indigenous engagement and consultation activities required for regulatory applications
Resolve community concerns for CCS and track all community feedback
Manage the development of project communications and materials including brochures, pamphlets, infographics, banners, templates in order to support timely, transparent, and effective stakeholder engagement and project activities.
Act as lead in planning, logistics, and execution of community engagement activities
Ensure stakeholder concerns and feedback are used to inform decision making in project design
Interface with Supply Chain on local and Indigenous content
Develop and implement social impact identification, management, and mitigations
Ensure social and reputational opportunities and risks are assessed at an early stage, mitigated or leveraged, and integrated into business plans
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s Degree preferred however equivalent experience will also be considered
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in community engagement combined with strong stakeholder relationship management skills
Deep understanding of stakeholder and Indigenous community landscapes in Alberta
Willingness to travel approximately 10-30% depending on homebase of employee
Working knowledge pertaining to social impact management and social risk management along with a track record of building trust with a variety of stakeholders
Strong communication skills combined with the ability craft formal communications to a variety of external audiences
