This role reports to the Head of UK Communications. The purpose of the role is to support and grow Shell’s trust in the UK through effective communications, with a strong focus on internal communications, building brand and reputation, and securing Shell's credibility in the energy transition.

What’s the role?

  • To design, manage and execute communications strategies, heavily weighed towards internal communications, in support of Shell UK and its associated businesses.
  • Build reputation and influence with key stakeholders through creative and compelling communications across internal and external audiences.
  • Design and lead communications and profiling strategy for the UK Country Chair across all internal channels. Connect with Shell’s corporate centre to ensure integrated, purposeful communication across channels.
  • Support major set piece projects including the Shell UK Brand Campaign and partnerships such as British Cycling, prioritising communications voice and resource to best effect for the whole of Shell UK, often with competing demands across UK businesses.
  • Help design and deliver a UK strategic communications and content strategy in support of the Shell Group strategy, that reflects business objectives, builds Shell's brand and reputation and secures societal licence to operate.                                                                          
  • Use external and internal insights and digital analytics tools to inform strategy and content and embed a robust approach to evaluation with clearly defined measurement frameworks and KPIs.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Disclosure Standard for all UK content.
  • Deliver effective and compliant contract management with external agencies, suppliers and partners.

What we need from you

  • Strong track record of managing integrated communications strategies across platforms and in complex external environments, with a particular emphasis on internal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to write accurately under time pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, ability to build trust and experience working in challenging external environments and in conflict resolution.
  • Strong strategy, planning and team management capabilities.
  • Competency in digital and social media engagement strategies, as well as the ability to work with media relations to resolve corporate challenges.
